For Australia, enhancing gender equality, including ending gender-based violence, is a priority domestically and internationally. It therefore occupies a central place in our COVID-19 development response, Partnerships for Recovery. Captain Reginald Saunders was an inspiring soldier, veteran and champion for Indigenous equality. He fought in North Africa, the Mediterranean and New Guinea during the Second World War.
