16.01.2022 James Halliday is Australia’s most renowned wine writer. His tasting palette is well cultivated, and his wine knowledge more than just extensive. Each year Jam...es compiles the Australian Wine Companion - a reference book as respected as it is thorough. For the 2014 edition of Australian Wine Companion, over 6200 wines are reviewed with both individual wines as well as wineries awarded a star rating out of 5. This year, three Tower Estate wines received 94 points. This classifies the wines as Outstanding and of the highest quality, often with a distinguished pedigree. 2011 Hunter Valley Chardonnay Rating 94 Points Bright straw-green; nectarine and melon come to the fore, with citrus manifesting itself on the finish; the oak level, too, has been deliberately tuned down. 2011 Hunter Valley Shiraz Rating 94 Points Bright purple-red; a barrel selection was made after 16 months in French oak. It is a beautifully modulated and structured example of Hunter Valley Shiraz; plum, black cherry and a hint of spice; the oak is not the least intrusive. 2011 Tasmanian Pinot Noir - Rating 94 Points A very good colour. A delicious Pinot, with red cherry and wild strawberry leading the way, some spice and gossamer tannins on the finish. 2011 Adelaide Hills Chardonnay - Rating 93 Points 2012 Hunter Valley Semillon - Rating: 90 Points Tower Estate was founded in 1999 and has been rated a 5-star winery since 2005 and in James’ opinion nothing has changed for the 2014 Edition of the Australian Wine Companion. **A SEPECIAL OFFER will be available for Facebook followers to receive 15% discount when ordering the Outstanding Wines for the month of August.
