01.01.2022 Update and Promising News: Subject: SLOPES: Perisher Range Resorts - Bushfires update Date: Sat, 11 Jan 2020 21:54:12 +1100 From: SLOPES ... Dear SLOPES Members and Associates The news to date is good on the bushfires so far as concerns Guthega, Perisher, Smiggins and Charlotte Pass. The resorts missed the fire yesterday. Fortunately the southerly change winds last night were not as strong as forecast There were considerable fire fighting resources gathered in Perisher. The Perisher Valley Fire Station Facebook page yesterday reported: Today Perisher Valley 426 station hosted 3 strike teams from NSW Fire + Rescue these teams will be placed around the mountains to help local crews over the next few days. Attached is a photo from that Facebook page showing a group of 13 fire trucks in the carpark at Perisher. The second attached photo shows fire retardant being deposited from the air on Mt Perisher as a precautionary measure. It rained last night (around 8mm) and is quite cool in the area and so the situation has eased. For now, we are through the danger period according to the RFS website downgrading all fires today to on watch. However, the FIRES near me Me app reported this morning there are 2 out of control fires within 20km of Perisher, and another 5 within 50km, of which 4 are out of control. Clearly, the situation remains fluid and may change on short notice as the weather and status of the fires unfold in the coming days and weeks. The apps and websites of the KNP, the RFS (Fires Near Me) and NSW Live traffic - see below - will have the latest information on the fires and what is open and closed. We will keep you updated as more information comes to hand. Regards President SLOPES

01.01.2022 Well we all know AAA attracts some of the world’s greatest endurance athletes and this year is no exception. We welcome one of the world’s BEST triathletes, Sarah Crowley, to compete in the 25km trail run. Among other wins, more recently Sarah finished an incredible 3rd place at the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii back in October 2019 - no mean feat!
