25.01.2022 Soldiers on the Army Combatives Program were shown how hand-to-hand combat was done in the good old days, with one of the program’s founding fathers, Major John... Whipp (retired), visiting the Combatives Centre. MAJ Whipp delivered a lesson in knife fighting as he did with soldiers during the Vietnam War, 1970s and 1980s.

17.01.2022 Last week WO2 Aaron Johnston was officially recognised as a Combative Sergeant Major by the award of the Red White Belt by Chief Master Trainer of Combatives Pa...ul Cale, and the President of the Australian Defence Force Martial Arts Association Colonel David Ward. The Red White belt is associated with mastery in a martial arts style, and this is the first time it has been associated with mastery in Army Combatives specifically. The red and white belt is the Combatives version of the red sash traditionally worn by the Australian Infantry. The first red sashes issued to Sergeants and Warrant Officers were in the British Army clothing regulations from 1727. The Army Combatives Program continues this tradition today with WO2 Johnstone’s Combatives Sergeant Major appointment.
