25.01.2022 The 2019 ACCET Choral Conducting Summer School is done! A heart-felt thank-you goes out to all who attended - this event would not be possible if it were not for our wonderful participants! A huge thanks to our wonderful guest international presenters, Elena and Simon, whose expertise, experience, enthusiasm and humour have enriched and inspired so many people. Same to Debroah, who shared her culture and invited us to be a part of it, as well as address a number of areas of ...uncertainty around music created by the first peoples of Australia. The conducting group tutors, being Jenny, Robert, Faye, Mark and Jodie, as well as the wonderful accompanists, Lachlan, Adeline, Bruce, Sue, Irina, May and Dean, once again, were brilliant and supportive, both challenging and nurturing those in their groups. The school could not run so smoothly without the work of the "student" helpers: thank-you to Alex, Gen, Tegann and Petrina for your fruit cutting and furniture moving, amongst other things. Rebecca, for overseeing the kitchen and food provision, making sure we had enough dietary-requirement food...and caffine! Saska, for technical expertise and being an all-round awesome worker, with no job too small or difficult. The ACCET committee not already mentioned, being Tony, Anne and Gillian, who do a lot of organising and support this event in so many ways, and are always ready to jump when asked. Thanks to Simon, Sam W and Anna for spending their week in the sometimes freezing foyer, tempting us with so many goodies and, sometimes, things we really don't need but just have to have! A huge cheer for Tally Ho catering for keeping us very well fed yet again, and Sam N from Xavier College for looking after us and sorting out things from stuck doors to leaking air conditioners. And, I know we have already mentioned Faye, but she does need to be mentioned again. Congratulations and thank-you to Faye for overseeing this whole event for another year: your energy, drive and passion is very much appreciated.
25.01.2022 We are well on the way with organisation of the 2020 ACCET Summer School. Come join us, with Dr Heather Buchanan and Paul Holley and all the rest of our leadership team. It will be a great education experience. See www.choralconductors.org.au
23.01.2022 A selection of photos from our second day!
21.01.2022 Belated photos from day three... I took some insane number of photos...over 200, I think it was! Be glad you are only getting edited highlights! Having said that, I will be posting photos that did not make the "daily edit" but are still decent some time in the near future... Photos are from the conducting tutor groups, school choir vs class singing session and 25th anniversary dinner.
18.01.2022 All packed and ready to go! Can you spot the new bag colours for 2020? (We were pretty excited to see them!)
17.01.2022 Day four, and the final day of the 2018 ACCET Conducting Summer School. It has been a full few days, and it was, admittedly, showing. This did not deter Jodie, who did her best to wake everyone up with more warm-ups, both physical and vocal. Faye presented a session on Australian folk music, inspiring a number of participants to do more research for themselves, and opening eyes to arrangements of songs they may not have heard before. Today was Jenny's turn to conduct a ma...ster class, and between the sledgehammers and dancing, a lot of educational fun was had. After one last conducting group tuition session, it was time for the final session, a time to reflect, look forward to the future and say farewell (...for the moment). Thank-you to everyone who made the activities of this last week possible. Thank-you to the ACCET committee, staff and volunteer helpers. Thank-you to all the conducting tutors and accompanists. Thank-you to Jenny and Rollo, our headline leaders, for gracing us with your presence, humour, intelligence, acceptance, kindness, generosity...the list goes on and on. I mean it. Thank-you to Faye for pulling it all together, this and every other year. Thank-you to the staff at Xavier College. Thank-you also to our supports who could not come to the school or Sing for Life this year, but who have followed our progress and promoted what we offer. But, most importantly, THANK-YOU, DEAR ATTENDEES! Without your support, we can organise all we want, but nothing would happen if it were not for you. Photos are from the master class and afternoon tea.

06.01.2022 Here are some photos from the first day of Summer School! We've been getting some really great photos, thanks for everyone being so patient!
05.01.2022 It is with great sadness we have decided to cancel the 2021 ACCET Sing for Life and Conducting Summer School events. It was felt these events would not be feasible given the current world-wide situation. HOWEVER, we have some ideas as to how we can still help educate and support the wonderful choral conductors out there in a number of ways, this year, next year and beyond! Stay tuned for exciting updates! In the meantime, pop January 16th - 20th, 2022, in your diaries for the return of the normal summer school with international presenter, Joe Miller.
04.01.2022 ACCET is very sad to hear of the unexpected passing of Sonny Chua this week. A fabulous composer and musician, and a passionate educator, Sonny was a strong supporter of ACCET and had joined our committee a couple of years ago. Our thoughts and love go out to his family.
04.01.2022 We had a wonderful time singing with Dr Heather Buchanan on Sunday for Sing for Life, even with the wet and wild weather! Thank you to everyone who attended! Stay tuned for more photos of the 27th Summer School throughout the week
04.01.2022 Well, we may have been a little quiet on the Facebook front since the last summer school (eeek - sorry! We'll blame my crazy work schedule this past year. Feel free to ask me about it tomorrow...or maybe not!), but we are certainly alive and kicking! In fact, a one of the largest groups of participants we have had for a number of years enjoyed Sing For Life with Simon Halsey yesterday. A wonderful day of singing and great music explored. Today marked the first day of the c...horal conducting summer school, and what a great introduction it was! From the all important question of "what colour bag would you like?" (cross your fingers for the return of a purple bag next year!) to "how can I work this into my program/repertoire/rehearsals?", great discussions were had, examples given and ideas shared. Simon and the dynamic Elena Sharkova are fantastic headlining tutors. :) Ready for another fantastic day tomorrow!
03.01.2022 We loved all of the incredible and inventive warm ups each morning from Mark Puddy Music - I think our diaphragms were warmed up mostly from all the laughter!
02.01.2022 Getting the music together for the ACCET Short Course for secondary school / youth choir conductors. Covered will be rehearsal and music preparation, the teenage voice, repertoire and hands-on conducting technique experience. To enrol go to www.choralconductors.org.au
