22.01.2022 As the year draws to a close, I want to take the opportunty to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year. If you're working over the break - thank you. I look forward to continuing to fight for Macquarie in 2019.

17.01.2022 FOR THOSE INTERESTED AND WHOM HAVE BEEN AFFECTED Good morning I am writing on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner NSW/ACT, Maralyn Newman, to inform you about a ...Mefloquine and Tafenoquine Consultation Forum in Sydney on Monday, 29 October 2018 held by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs. You may be aware that some current and former serving members of the ADF have raised concerns about their past use of these anti-malarial medications and possible long-term health effects. You may also be aware that the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade is currently undertaking a Senate Inquiry into the use of quinoline anti-malarial drugs mefloquine and tafenoquine in the Australian Defence Force. The purpose of the two-hour forum (6:00pm 8:00pm) is to provide an opportunity to hear from current and former serving members and outline the treatments, services and supports available. This will help DVA to better understand the needs of those who have concerns about these medications and to direct them quickly to available treatment options. The session will be mediated by an independent facilitator, with the Deputy Commissioner and staff from DVA and the Veterans and Veterans Counselling Service (VVCS) available to answer questions. Information will also be provided on currently available DVA services and supports, with DVA, Defence and Veterans and Veterans Families Counselling Service staff present to arrange one-on-one assistance if required. TO REGISTER - Interested persons should email their name and contact details to [email protected] or phone 9213-7773. I would be grateful if you would pass this information on to your contacts in the current and former serving ADF community and to anyone you think may benefit from attending the consultation forum. Regards Hadyn White

10.01.2022 RECENT HAPPENINGS IN PARLIAMENT Three Parliamentary Bills have passed the House of Representatives for submission to the Senate. They are: Australian Recogniti...on (Putting Veterans and their Families First) Bill 2019. This is a Bill that enshrines a Covenant which makes a commitment to beneficial legislation and provides a recognition package (veterans card and lapel pin). Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Amendment (Single Treatment Pathway) Bill 2019. MRCA veterans will only be able to use their DVA Health Card to pay for treatment, which brings the MRCA in line with the other Acts, DRCA and VEA. Treatment Benefits (Special Access) Bill 2019 and Treatment Benefits (Special Access) Consequential Amendments and Transitional Provisions) Bill 2019. Both Bills provide a Gold Card to SEATO civilian doctors and nurses and makes necessary consequential adjustments.
