24.01.2022 AFG proudly supported Jersey Day last Friday to support The Organ and Tissue Authority and the Donate Life Network. The campaign is designed to raise awareness and begin those difficult conversations with your family and friends about organ donation. Did you know?... Around 1,700 Australians are currently waitlisted for a transplant. A further 12,000 are on dialysis, many of whom would benefit from a kidney transplant. In 2019, 1,683 lives were transformed by 548 deceased and 239 living organ donors and their families. In 2019, more than 12,000 Australians benefited from eye and tissue donation. The majority of Australians are willing to donate their organs and/or tissue when they die. In Australia, 90% of families say yes to donation when their loved one is a registered donor. This compares to the national consent rate of 62%. If our national consent rate reaches 70%, Australia would be in the top 10 performing countries. One in three Australians are registered donors despite the majority (69%) believing that registering is important. In 2019, there were over 221,641 new registrations on the Australian Organ Donor Registry. Here are some pictures from our staff who took part in the day to raise awareness about this very important issue. Our thanks to Scott Phillips who organised the day for our employees. 11.01.2022 They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. Today is a day we pay our respects to those men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice and to all current and former Defence Force members, including many of the employees of Australian Facilities Group, for their hard work, courage and sacrifice in the service of our nation. We thank you.

10.01.2022 AFL staff members WPC Apprentice Saxon (pictured) and Matt recently undertook the task of re-mediating some dog kennels for one of our clients. Ground preparation with a Rotary Hoe and re-turfing were key tasks undertaken in this project. Matt and Saxon did a fantastic job with this task and the customer was extremely happy with the completed project.

07.01.2022 Chrysi has completed her Apprenticeship in Horticulture with WPC Group, and has made a decision to venture into new sunrises from another land. Chrysi has been a wonderful happy bubbly addition to Team for two years and AFL congratulate her on her studies and wish her all the best in her journey through life.

07.01.2022 Australian Facilities Landscapes (AFL) provides a diverse range of Land Management services from grounds maintenance through to specialised Environmental and Sustainability initiatives for our valued client BGIS throughout the NNSW Defence Region. Recently our AFL Nursery reached a milestone with a project and has successfully grown 500 Forest She-Oaks (Allocasurina Torulosa) with seed that was collected on site. AFL employee and Nursery Champion Kirralee Love has devoted man...y hours to sorting seeds, propagating and planting stock. The seed was collected from trees in the Range area which had Glossy Black Cockatoos feeding on them. Glossy Black Cockatoos are a listed threatened species and require very specific trees such as Casuarinas, to feed from. Forest She-Oaks are dioecious, drought and frost resistant and can grow on poor soils. Through our internal training courses, AFL staff have been trained to manage threatened species and their potential habitat during works. We are very proud of Kirralee and our dedicated team for achieving this milestone and overall for the replanting of over 5000 native plants from nursery tube stock. Congratulations to all involved! #environment #sustainability #groundsmaintenance #defence #australianfaciltiesgroup #landmanagement #wires #gogreen
