25.01.2022 About the new changes to the University Degree system. I agree with the new system particularly in regard to extra funding for the rural areas and the stronger ...emphasis on maths and science. I am a Fine Artist with also a maths & science background - all have helped me in understanding the chemistry of paint, perspective, longevity of material, colour saturation, optics, etc. One thing I would like to change also is the name of Degrees. I have always been annoyed at the term "Arts Degree" - it is too broad. Why not call the Degrees for what they actually are such as a B. Journalism, B. History, B. Law, B. Politics, B. Music, B. Commerce, etc., instead of tacking it on the end of an "Arts Degree" - my son has a B.A.(Fine Art - with Distinction). I used to think that an "Arts" Degree meant that you were qualified in the :Fine" Arts - until I realised that was not the case. I am 74 and have been a Fine Artist all my life - it is a long journey to become proficient in this field. In Ancient times one had to do a 12 year "Apprenticeship" to be called a Master Artist. Have a look at this Dan Tehan. See more

13.01.2022 Does any one know of a good web designer in the Willaura area? I need some one that can convert existing websites created with Apple Mac to Windows and create u...sable data that can be modified from time to time. I work with Windows Vista and Windows 10. I also have Windows 7 and a Tablet and Photoshop, but no Dreamweaver. See www.lauriemcmurray.com.au . The www.mcmurraygalleries.com.au has been unintentionally deleted. The info on these sites still refer to Avoca and I need them to refer to Willaura. They have not been upgraded for years. Please contact me at McMurray Galleries email [email protected] or ph.5354 1114 or 0400 832 621. See more

10.01.2022 MCMURRAY GALLERIES Fine Art & Framing in Willaura would like to thank all the local people who are supporting us - I always knew this was a great area to have m...y early years here. I have work from almost every town and area in the broader district. We now have the small shop separate to the Picture Framing & Studio set up as another Art Gallery. There is work from the late 1800's to today and is very Collectible, especially by Robert William Bugg (1853 -1937) who was connected with Tom Roberts and Frederick McCubbins, as well as Alan Moore (1914 - 2015) the 2nd W.W. Artist. We have Artwork to suit most tastes and price range from a few dollars to thousands of dollars, and a large range of pen & ink prints of old Victorian country buildings drawn by myself.
