23.01.2022 Just received this great photo of Chris Saunders, our wonderful pianist/vocalist in the Australian Jazz Connection, who will be playing at the Pismo Jazz Jubilee in just over two weeks time. 22.01.2022 Wow!!!! Thank you so much for the wonderful 'Likes' we have received. We really appreciate your support and look forward to entertaining you all in USA and beyond. Oh by the way, in discussions today, whilst playing with the New Melbourne Jazz Band, I was asked what the female Kangaroo vocalist's name is. Maybe we have a naming competition a little down the track (lol)

22.01.2022 Just received some photos from some of our performances at the wonderful Pismo Beach Jazz Jubilee by the Sea, last weekend. Was also sent an interesting comment from one of the audience members; "The Australians have found inventive ways to create new sounds from traditional instruments." I guess that this comment refers to the unique style that the Australian Jazz Connection is both popular and identified with.

18.01.2022 Time is certainly passing quickly, leading up to the Pismo Beach Jazz Jubilee by the Sea; and it's now opportune to introduce Simon Stribling on Trumpet with Australian Jazz Connection. Growing up in a small Australian country town Simon Stribling started playing trumpet at the age of five! Once familiar with his instrument he joined the local brass band before furthering his trumpeting skills at Melbourne Grammar Schools, concert band, brass ensemble, symphony orchestra an...d the school's 'Big Band'. The big band led to his passion for jazz. He regularly played in bands and became leader of the world renowned Fireworks Jazz Band which enjoyed great success touring Australia, the US and Europe since its formation in 1991. In 2000, Simon moved to Vancouver and formed a fun and enthusiastic local band called the New Orleans Ale Stars, aptly named after Simons other passion; brewing beer. Simon regularly travels to Europe as an All Star, playing at various festivals in Holland and Belgium. See more

17.01.2022 Australian Jazz Connection is Now on YouTube at Pismo Beach Jazz Jubilee by the Sea. Part of our Aussie Tunes set. I am pretty silent as I am the compare for this great show. Its not a professional job but done by a lovely lady Linda Shorb from Pismo Beach who went to all this effort. More later. I hope you like it, it was fun as you will see.

17.01.2022 Who's Counting; but only 12 or so weeks and the best jazz festival ever will be kicking off with a bang at Pismo Beach, California. Yes, the Pismo Beach Jazz Jubilee by the Sea festival commences on Thursday 24 October and runs until late on Sunday 27th October. With an array of the best jazz bands and musicians, the Australian Jazz Connection can't wait to get on stage and entertain the large number or enthusiastic jazz fans, who attend this annual festival. 16.01.2022 Wow, very proud of the efforts of my fellow musicians in Australian Jazz Connection, following the comments in the Pismo Beach Jazz Jubilee by the Sea Bulletin article received today. Besides Tuba Skinny, the Australian Jazz Connection generated the intense excitement that characterized this festival. I was their debut... performance of an assemblage of Aussie ex-pats put together by the able and debonair Paul Ingle, a new Friend of the Festival. Some jazz buffs traveled from Down Under to see them, an extraordinary blend of players pulling together some astounding sets with minimal rehearsal. http://www.pismojazz.com/newslett/2019_November_OffBeat.pdf

15.01.2022 Over the past months, we have introduced the members of Australian Jazz Connection. We now welcome our wonderful drummer, Barnaby Gold. Barnaby moved to New Orleans in 2015, where he performs regularly with Leroy Jones at Preservation Hall and Palm Court, as well as major festivals. Among Barnabys freelance work, he performs with many younger musicians - Joe Goldberg, Ben Fox, Joe Kennedy - as well as New Orleans A-Listers, Wendell Brunious, Tom Hook, Mark Brooks, Greg Stafford, Topsy Chapman, and Don Vappie. 14.01.2022 Thanks again for all your wonderful support and 'Likes'. As we move closer to the Pismo Beach Jazz Jubilee by the Sea, I thought it would be appropriate to intr...oduce each member of the Australian Jazz Connection to you. The first, Jon Hunt on saxophones and clarinet is originally from Adelaide, South Australia and now resides in Princeton, New Jersey. Holding a PhD from the Elder Conservatorium of Music (Adelaide), he received awards for 'Top Undergraduate Saxophone' and 'Most Outstanding Honours Graduate' whilst there. Jon also taught clarinet at the Conservatorium for 6 years before moving to Melbourne, where he lived for 5 years until moving to the US in 2017. In 2006 Jon was awarded a grant through Arts South Australia to study in New York with the worlds leading exponents of jazz clarinet: Ken Peplowski and Marty Ehrlich. Apart from being an excellent musician, Jon was recently commissioned by the National Gallery of Victoria to compose and perform a new score for Fritz Langs 1927 film Metropolis. Jon performs extensively in and around New York and the East Coast with groups including Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks, and the Gordon Webster Band. He has toured, recorded, and performed internationally with a wide range of artists from many genres including Mark de Clive-Lowe (USA), Leroy Jones (USA), Marilyn Keller (USA) plus many of Australias leading jazz musicians. We welcome Jon to the band and look forward to his wonderful musicianship at Pismo Beach in October See more

13.01.2022 I love the enthusiasm of the members of the Australian Jazz Connection leading up to the fantastic Pismo Beach Jazz Jubilee by the Sea Festival in October. This has included both Simon Stribling (Trumpet) and Barnaby Gold (Drums) travelling back for recent gigs here in Australia and no doubt absorbing some good old Aussie food, air and maybe a fine glass of wine, to get them ready for the festival. Our program also includes a special set of Australian Tunes, which we are looking forward to sharing with the audiences at Pismo. See you in about 6 weeks.

12.01.2022 Following the success of our performance at the Pismo Beach Jazz Jubilee by the Sea, we are now getting interest from a number of other jazz festivals across the USA. To assist with this I am trying to collect any photos of the band and/or videos taken. I know that there were cameras and telephones very active during our sets. Any assistance would be great.

12.01.2022 Thanks for all the visits and likes from our growing base of fans over the past 3 weeks, whilst I have travelling in Italy and Greece. The rest of the band have been very busy with their local gigs keeping their "chops in". So far we have featured Jon Hunt our Reed Guy and Chris Saunders our Pianist/Vocalist and thank you for your support and responses. I thought it's now time to introduce our wonderful Bassist/Vocalist Jen Hodge to you all. Although born and raised in Ca...nada, we have adopted Jen into the band and claim that somewhere in her background there is a strain of Aussie blood which is close enough on this occasion to include her in the Aussie jazz arena. Jen is a versatile musician who can be found playing with a wide variety of artists all over the world. When Jen is leading a band she likes it hot: Hard swinging grooves; boisterous New Orleans style horns; cheeky lyrics; intriguing arrangements; plenty of spontaneous fun; and an evident, infectious love for making music. Jens particular expertise in the arena of traditional jazz has taken her to stages all over Canada, the USA, China, Spain, France, the UK, Sweden, and the Caribbean. Please welcome Jen to the Australian Jazz Connection. See more

12.01.2022 With all these fantastic members of Australian Jazz Connection now introduced to you, I have been asked to include some kind words recently written as convener of this wonderful band. Joining the front line and leading Australian Jazz Connection, is trombonist/vocalist Paul Ingle from Melbourne. Pauls played trombone from an early age and like Simon, commenced his musical career playing in bands and orchestras of all genres and sizes including military & brass bands, symphon...y orchestras, swing bands and cover bands. 02.01.2022 Well now back in Australia, after a fantastic time at the Pismo Beach Jazz Jubilee by the Sea over the weekend. I have said many times that this festival has it all; from the location, the size, the clockwork organisation, the committees and volunteers and of course the appreciative audiences. The Australian Jazz Connection (or what may be now known as "That Aussie Band") had a ball and hope that we can return for the next festival in 2020. Thanks again to the band for their wonderful efforts and the festival for a memorable event.

02.01.2022 There are some incredible people in the Australian Jazz scene, who give their valuable time and efforts to this wonderful genre of music. This afternoon I rec...eived a call from one of these volunteers that supports jazz here in Melbourne and afar. He noted that the Australian Jazz Connection (AJC) are appearing at the Pismo Jazz Jubilee by the Sea Festival USA in October and offered his expertise in photography at his own expense to take pictures and support the band. This incredible person is Ron Jobe!!!!!! As an young 80's gentleman, it was agreed that the distance and cost involved was maybe a bit tough for the 3 days. However, the AJC and I am sure Pismo Beach Jazz Committee appreciate and recognise this wonderful offer and person. Thanks Ron once again. See more

01.01.2022 Our wonderful Australian Jazz Connection pianist; Chris Saunders apparently warming up for the Pismo Beach Jazz Jubilee by the Sea Festival in 4 weeks time. (lol)
