12.01.2022 Hi, everyone....... IT safety tips for using Zoom Today's IT tip is about using Zoom more securely.... A lot of people are using Zoom now to keep in touch with friends and family, it is a great fun tool for doing this. But you may have heard a few worrying comments about it's safety. Sure there have been problems, there can even be problems with the best tools if they are not configured or used properly. So if you use Zoom here are a couple of tips to make your experience a little safer. There is an updated version of the install-able version of Zoom software that came out today. My recommendation to you is to install it. If you go to the web to download it only download it from a genuine Zoom site. Zoom.com I don't think the update for zoom is automatic, On my PC software I start the Zoom program then click on my profile picture on the top right hand corner. On the menu that pops up there should be an option to check for updates. The rest is easy. A few other safety configuration tips for Zoom 1. Make sure you set a password for your meetings 2. Set up a waiting room (It's a tick of a box) this will stop people entering your meeting without permission. No one wants to be Zoom Bombed by some unsavory twit. 3. Don't put your zoom personal meeting room link in your email signature (or website) and send it out to everyone, yes some people do this. Only include it in meeting requests. Such scams encourage you to... - click on videos, - Click on a web link - confirm where you want your deliveries sent, - donate money - the list goes on and on And.....these attacks are coming from everywhere, Emails, SMS, web sites, phone calls .... Be careful, the last thing anyone needs right now is to have their identity stolen or be hacked. Feel free to share this The irony is I am sharing a link!
