17.01.2022 Ten years ago today, Robyn and I, two deranged boxed Burmese cats, one soaking wet black labrador and 50 or so two day old pheasant chicks were rescued from our... home in Rocklea by a neighbour in his tinny as the floodwaters hit the stop stairs which was three metres above the slab below which was two metres above the road. We rang the emergency services, but they never came. They never came for anyone in our sector of Rocklea during the entire emergency. But that was irrelevant, Rocklea saved itself. I swam back in at the peak two days later to find 1.2 metres of brown water through the house. We returned two days after that as the water left the house to find this........ Note the personally signed copy of Dune by Frank Herbert in the mud. See more
