23.01.2022 The audit work Lee Armstrong, an AQHRD Director has been doing over recent months in talking with and compiling data from Quarter Horse breeders and owners across Queensland (and beyond) has been very interesting. Lee has been truly inspired with the level of interest and passion! The pent up demand for professional Quarter Horse racing is very strong and Lee and his team are making great progress with seeing who will get involved, with a closer understanding of the number of Quarter Horses in foal or on the ground now. If you have not spoken with Lee Armstrong yet, just email [email protected] or call the AQHRD office on 1800 621 982.

21.01.2022 Quick Snapshot report from our Chairman on the teams visit to Normanton last weekend... "I was fortunate to be able to attend the Normanton Races on Sunday, and had a great time. While Normanton and the towns in that region are isolated to a city guy like me, they lack for nothing, and have an amazing community spirit. We continually commented on the friendly attitude of everyone. And the race day was a huge success, with a great crowd of passionate race followers. But I was... really there to see the horses and speak with the people that put these events together, and I came away impressed with everything I heard and saw. Bottom line is that they have some very fast horses! And as a new industry, we see exciting opportunities in working with regions such as this to produce and nurture great breeding and quality race horses. I was fortunate to speak to representatives from other race meetings and there is an incredible passion and drive among these people. I am hopeful of re-visiting the region in the New Year to meet with representatives from all of the communities in that region that conduct race meetings or have ambition to do so. The AQHRD see the region as an important part of the development of the industry state wide. Thanks again to Paul and Ashley for arranging the visit. Great experience. Allan Murnane Managing Director and Chairman AQHRD. e:[email protected] m: 0419532679

20.01.2022 The AQHRD Board has been undertaking activities to finalise the business case to commence Quarter Horse racing in Queensland. The business case will be presented to the Minister and the Department of National Parks, Sports and Racing in September 2017. This is a notable step forward for Quarter Horse racing. The Department will review our business case in the coming months and we expect a positive response in early 2018. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our com...munity for its patience and support. It has been a long journey but we believe we are close to starting a new one with Quarter Horse racing becoming a reality in the very near future. The Minister and the Department continue to support the development of our industry and we remain committed to continuing the work required to see Quarter Horse racing flourish in 2018. 19.01.2022 To an amazing 2015 - HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

18.01.2022 Over the last two months the directors have been busy meeting with the government and Racing Queensland to ensure that Quarter Horse racing can commence in 2017. The chair of AQHRD has met with the Acting Deputy Director-General of Strategic Policy & Racing Industry Governance (previously the Office of Racing), the Chair and CEO of Racing Qld, and more recently with the new Integrity Commissioner of QRIC. Soon after these positive meetings, we received a letter from the Mini...ster for Racing, advising us to continue to work with QRIC and her department to get the industry going by early next year. In addition, AQHRD is continuing negotiations with other tracks and facilities around Queensland, interested in having Quarter Horse racing at their sites. The goal is still to commence racing early next year and this is looking very positive based on our ongoing meetings with QRIC and Racing Qld. We are very excited about this ongoing progression and will keep you all informed of developments. We hope to be able to provide you with our first race date in the coming months!

07.01.2022 AQHRD has received a number of queries in relation to starting Quarter Horse racing in 2017. We have been making some great progress with both QRIC and the Department of Racing Industry Governance and would like to provide our community with an update. We have received a new set of conditions under our approval to commence racing from the Department and will lodge our business case in the coming months. Once this is finalised, we can request our first race date with the Minis...ter. In addition, we have been working with the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (see http://www.qric.qld.gov.au/) to allow us to race under their integrity body. As this is a relatively new statutory body established by the Government, they are in the process of resourcing up to better understand Quarter Horse racing in Queensland. We will continue to work with QRIC to ensure that we are racing with the highest integrity and continue to keep the safety of the horses and other participants at the forefront of our sport. While we are unable to confirm our first race date at this time, we will endeavour to keep you informed of our progress. If you would like to get in contact with us, please send a Facebook message with your details so we can record them for future activities.

06.01.2022 AQHRD Pty Ltd has some exciting news! We have been in discussions with a number of tracks around Queensland and we have signed our first Memorandum of Understanding with Gympie Turf Club. As you can see from the photo, Gympie Turf Club Chairman Shane Gill and AQHRD Chairman John Hocken with members of the GTC Board and AQHRD advisory committee were delighted with the potential opportunities between the two organisations. The MOU provides a framework to work together to look at conducting quarter horse racing at the Gympie Racecourse in the near future. We will keep you posted on when racing can commence. Please keep an eye on our website www.aqhrd.com.au for further developments.
