23.01.2022 Looking to buy Ugg boots but confused about where they are made? The Australian made logo is good however even the imported products can have the label attached Made in Australia labels are good but again imported products can have this fixed after. Let us take the hard work out for you. Look for our logo on a tag, then you know it's made and sold ethically by a member of Australian Sheepskin Association.

22.01.2022 Early in 2004 Deckers Outdoor Corporation threatened many Australian manufacturers of sheepskin products with legal action if they did not cease calling their sheepskin boots by their common name "ugg boots". A small group of these threatened manufacturers banded together to form the Australian Sheepskin Association Inc. to defend their right to use the ugg words - ug, ugh and ugg and to promote genuine Australian made sheepskin products.

21.01.2022 Mmm ... this action is a great start but not an adequate deterrent when so many companies are doing exactly the same plus stating 100% australian Sheepskin - most manufacturers buy their sheepskins through a middle man and therefore there is no certainty as to where the skins originated from.

20.01.2022 Consumers should beware of fake ugg boots. The dictionary definition of an "ugg boot" is "a sheepskin boot with the wool on the inside". An ugg boot must be made of real sheepskin. Due to the high cost of genuine sheepskin, one of the first warning bells will be a so called "ugg boot" advertised at a very cheap price. Make sure you have the genuine article before purchasing. Genuine sheepskin will outlast many synthetic products. Sheepskin is a natural product which breathes, absorbs moisture and provides a warmth and comfort superior to any synthetics. (Most synthetics become very smelly with wear). Real sheepskin has the wool tanned into the leather. Fake sheepskin can easily be recognised - if you part the fibres lining the boot with your fingers and there is a woven or knitted backing under the fibres it is NOT real sheepskin.

15.01.2022 Somewhat of an annoyance to Australian manufacturers of ugg boots is the lack of knowledge surrounding the product and specifically the name. Ugg is a description of footwear just as Jeans describes a type of trouser and Sneakers describes a type of sport shoe. 13.01.2022 For a list of our members and where to buy. These listed are of the few remaining manufacturers left in Australia. When you visit a website selling ugg boots that is not one of our members ... look specifically for "Made in ...." as this is rarely ever noted with imported products. Instead they will state things like "Australian owned" or "Australian sheepskin" or use of images or symbols associated with Australia ... all for the purpose of letting you assume Australian Made. 12.01.2022 We want to stand behind the real Australian ugg boot makers as, once more, the US company behind the "brand name" is playing hard ball. As we explain on our web... site, the term "ugg boot" is a generic term and has been so for many decades. To us, it is no different from a large firm trademarking the term "sheepskin slippers" and telling us we could not sell them as such any longer. As we also explain, the Australian sheepskin tanning industry developed around creating skins suitable for these boots while the European and US firms were heavily concentrated on creating skins for a variety of other uses, especially garments. There are many, many jobs at stake and many have already been lost. This is a true Australian product for all intents and purposes and what is happening is just wrong. 11.01.2022 Makes us so angry - how ridiculously far they will go to imply any Australian connection? We tell them this: why don't you pay Australian workers to design, cut, sew, stitch, glue and pack, then you would be able to proudly say they Are Australian Made. Otherwise you may just as well say - what they really are- imports.

10.01.2022 Positive meeting we had with Ian Harrison-Chief Executive (left) of the Australian Made Campaign, and Lisa Crowe and our President- Tony Butler and VP Judith Tratner, where we saw a real commitment to work together and ensure that Ugg boots claiming to be made in Australia, are indeed made in Australia. It's just the beginning and we will update you with future results.

09.01.2022 HOW TO SPOT AN IMPORT? Other than the often inferior quality, these are some examples of crafty swing tags we believe designed to confuse us to believe they are Australian Made. Don't be fooled by these tags, We say to them this:,instead of using the Australian green and gold colors, Kangaroos, maps and what's not, why don't you just make them in Australia??? Like our members do.

02.01.2022 Yesterday 7 members representing the association went to Parliament House Canberra to meet with Hon. Bruce Billson minister for small business and Hon. Bob Baldwin parliamentary secretary to minister of industry. The agenda was inadequate country of origin labelling laws and misleading and deceptive conduct within the ugg boot industry. Majority of ugg boot brands in Australia are made in China and once imported are labelled australian made. Meetings went well, swift action for compliance is imminent. Currently consumers are being deceived, however law enforcement action will be taken and consumers can have greater confidence in their purchases.
