17.01.2022 Farr Leads As The Rain Ends Night 1 By Sprintcars Australia Rain has put an early end to night 1 of the 2020 Sea Road Australian Sprintcar Championship at the L...atrobe Speedway following the competition of the eight scheduled heat races with former Champion Robbie Farr topping the points chart. Despite not winning a heat Farr was the quickest of his heat group in qualifying before finishing second in both of his 10 lap heat races. Second in points is dual National Champion James McFadden who like Farr topped his heat group in qualifying before recording a fourth placed result from his inverted starting grid before storming to victory in the second round after starting from the pole. Warrnambool’s Jamie Veal sits in equal second courtesy of recording identical results as McFadden while Kerry Madsen, Lachlan McHugh, Jock Goodyer, defending Champion Andrew Scheuerle, Steven Lines, Marcus Dumesny and Shaun Dobson complete the top 10 in the 38-car field. The racing program began with four qualifying groups with local Tate Frost getting the Championship underway in the best possible fashion as he recorded a lap of 11.324 to edge out Kerry Madsen. McFadden then set a lap of 11.356 in group 2, Jamie Veal went 11.426 in group 3 while Robbie Farr got maximum points in group 4 with a lap of 11.524. The opening round of heats saw an invert of 8 therefore the fast cars were coming off the fourth row. The opening heat saw an all the way win for Victorian youngster Brayden Parr with Adrian Redpath and Lachlan McHugh following. Heat 2 went the way of Sydneysider Jessie Attard ahead of Luke Oldfield and Glen Sutherland. Contact with Shaun Dobson saw Brooke Tatnell end his race on the infield. Heat 3 went the way of Charles Hunter with the first red light of the weekend coming on in the opening turn as Tim Hutchins tipped over, but he was able to restart. The final heat of round 1 saw the first heat win for a local as Chris Johns held out Robbie Farr and Steven Lines. Lines was lucky to finish after being caught up in an incident with Andrew Corbet and Jake Tranter. With the fastest drivers coming from the front in round 2 the results were quite predicable with Kerry Madsen, James McFadden, Jamie Veal and Jock Goodyer, who got the better of Farr, all taking wins. Heat 7 saw the biggest incident of the night as Charles Hunter rolled hard in turn two after Kevin Titman spun leaving the pilot of the V73 nowhere to go. With the Preliminary B and A-Main being cancelled they will not be run on Night 2. The final night will consist of a further round of heats, a C-main, a B-Main and a 40-lap Australian Championship final. 16.01.2022 After timing second in his qualifying group, then going on to finish in seventh in his opening heat race and second in his second heat race, Shaun ended up 10th... in the point standings after last night's Australian 410 Sprintcar Championship opener. Due to the wet weather, the night was brought to an early end, which cancelled both the B main and the preliminary feature race. Tonight, for the Australian Championship finale, the format is going to include one final round of heat races, followed by a C main, B main and the 40-lap Australian Championship feature race.
