24.01.2022 Merton’s Prayer of Abandonment and Trust My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me.... I cannot know for certain where it will end. Nor do I really know myself, and that I think I am following your will does not mean I am actually doing so. But I believe the desire to please you does in fact please you. And I hope I have that desire in all I am doing. I hope I will never do anything apart from that desire. And I know if I do this you will lead me by the right road though I may know nothing about it. I will trust you always though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death. I will not fear, for you will never leave me to face my perils alone. Thomas Merton Thoughts in Solitude

24.01.2022 My God, I pray better to You by breathing. I pray better to You by walking than by talking. Thomas Merton

22.01.2022 Love is our true destiny. We do not find the meaning of life by ourselves alone - we find it with another. Thomas Merton, Love and Living

22.01.2022 " The contemplative life has nothing to tell you except to reassure you and say that if you dare to penetrate your own silence and dare to advance without fear into the solitude of your own heart, you will truly recover the light and capacity to understand what is beyond words and beyond explanations because it is too close to be explained.,"" Thomas Merton

13.01.2022 Let me seek the gift of silence, of poverty, and solitude, where everything I touch is turned into prayer: where the sky is my prayer, the birds are my prayer, and the wind in the trees is my prayer, for God is all in all. Thomas Merton

04.01.2022 "We know that our Heavenly Father has a very special concern for he poor and the abandoned, who are the apple of His eye. We know that He pays very special attention to the needs of those whom the world ought to care for, but whom the world tends to reject." - Thomas Merton, 'To a woman religious superior'. 1 October 1960. Witness to Freedom: The Letters of Thomas Merton in Times of Crisis. Edited by William H. Shannon. 1994
