06.01.2022 Twic Care members maintain to vote in the upcoming Twic Election 2021

04.01.2022 ATECAQ Background Australian Twic East Community Association of Queensland Incoporate was formed on 25 April 2019 by seven members with the support of over 200 members. It is one of the South Sudanese associations with its members around Ipswich, Toowoomba, Caboolture, and Logan. The association provides services to its members, and it organised itself to function and operate to meet the needs of members. Our Achievements.... ATECAQ initiated Twic Empowerment and Cultural Dance, which it implemented on 14 December 2019. The leadership initiated the dance to empower families and youth to bring the importance of culture as well as the role of community engagement in their lives. The event was attended by over 400 people from the cities of Ipswich, Toowoomba, Caboolture, and Logan. Since Twic-land flooded in 2020, ATECAQ has been providing financial support to organisations and projects in which its leadership and members were invited. In fact, it indirectly supported members of Twic in the flood affected areas including the members of their families from oversea. ATECAQ linked its members to the mainstream services within the local government areas. It made the presence of Twic members in Ipswich felt during the local government election in 2020. The association achieved this by lobbying the candidates for Ipswich mayorship to consider the needs for the growing African population in the city of Ipswich. During the COVID-19 lockdown from March to May in 2020, ATECAQ engaged the service providers to assist families with computers so that the students could continue their studies online. As a result, the Access Community Service responded positively by helping one family with a laptop and promised to do more if the lockdown continued.
