20.01.2022 EXCITING CHANGES! The MCPP team is pleased to announce some exciting new developments in the future of the Prize. The MCPP will be moving home, to the Muswellbr...ook Regional Arts Centre, from 2021 on. This move constitutes yet another step change for the award. The MRAC offers the prize a much more permanent home and, within the Museums and Galleries of NSW network, allows greater scope for interaction with other galleries in that network. Another advantage is that the annual MCPP winners will go into a regional gallery collection, adding a great deal of prestige for the winning artists. Further, the 2021 MCPP exhibition will be shown for seven weeks through July and August. This compares with just three weeks long exhibitions in previous years, providing exhibitors and their printed works with a considerably longer public exposure period. We are also pleased to announce the adjudicators have been chosen and they are Jacqui Dean, Judith Nangala Crispin and Julie Williams as an accomplished team of judges for the 2021 MCPP. If you are on our mailing list you will very soon receive a media release announcing these developments. Entries open 29 January and close on 23 April.

12.01.2022 A message from the Festival Director No need to state how difficult this year has been for everyone, especially for those in the arts. I am very proud of our team who within a month, created and delivered Head On(line) Photo Festival 2020 - the first online photo festival in the world as a response to COVID19 - and we were so glad to receive your fantastic feedback telling us how much you got out of the experience.... In a challenging year, we are now especially thrilled to be able to present a physical series of beautiful and topical exhibitions at iconic outdoor locations and indoors at selected venues throughout November. This iteration of the Festival, this time in print, includes 52 exhibitions at Bondi Beach, the Paddington Reservoir Gardens and selected galleries across Sydney. We will also present encore presentations from our online Festival program. I encourage you to support the Festival and our artists by visiting the exhibitions and by purchasing prints and books. 05.01.2022 APS LIVE! ONLINE CONFERENCE Sunday 25th October YUSUF HASHIM - 3.30PM (Brisbane Time) POLE TO POLE : AND A FEW STOPS IN BETWEEN... Gentleman of Leisure, Gypsetter, Photographer, Unemployed, Unemployable, and Loving it! In a previous life, Yusuf Hashim worked for Shell, and was based in London, Rotterdam, and Jakarta. Upon returning to Malaysia in 1990, he was appointed Managing Director for Shell Chemicals in Malaysia, and then Retail Marketing Director for Shell Oil in Malaysia. In 1999, at age 53, and at the peak of his 30 years career at Shell, Yusuf listened to his heart, and quit Shell to become an unpaid photographer, and a spare driver for WorldExplorer.net, specialists in arranging worldwide trans-continental, motorcycle and 4x4 off-road expeditions. It wasn’t a rash or impulsive decision. His parental obligations were done. The Financials were good. He had a Bucket List. He wanted to spend his children’s inheritance. He wanted to travel and shoot pictures. He wanted to write. He wanted to live life. And he wanted to do it before, in his own words, life leaves him. Apart from sharing some of the two million photos he shot during his extraordinary trans-continental driving expeditions and the sailing and trekking photography workshops he has conducted in Antarctica, the Arctic, and in between, Yusuf will also share the thinking, which drove him to do what he has done. He will share the seven must-haves if you want to do the same. Over the last 20 years, Yusuf has visited >130 countries, and driven a 4x4 go anywhere vehicle, across and around, almost every continent, every desert, and over almost every mountain range worldwide. Come along and listen to Yusuf as he shares anecdotes and photos from his Journeys from Pole to Pole, Plus a few stops in Between! ...................... APS LIVE!
