17.01.2022 A vivid riverscape in Bermagui reminding us of the incredible land and sea Country upon which the Sapphire Coast NSW spans. In celebration of National NAIDOC We...ek, we would like to acknowledge the Tadjera, Munji, Djiringanj, Thaua, Bidawahal, Nulliker and Monaroo people of the Yuin-Monaro Nations who have occupied and cared for this region's land, sea and waterways for thousands of years. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were Australia’s first explorers, first navigators, first engineers, first farmers, first botanists, first scientists, first diplomats, first astronomers and first artists. NAIDOC Week and this year's theme 'Always Was, Always Will Be' is about: "Seeing, hearing and learning the First Nations’ 65,000+ year history of this country - which is Australian history. We want all Australians to celebrate that we have the oldest continuing cultures on the planet and to recognise that our sovereignty was never ceded." 16.01.2022 The tawny frogmouth (Podargus strigoides) is a species of frogmouth native to and found throughout the Australian mainland and Tasmania. It is a big-headed, stocky bird, often mistaken for an owl due to its nocturnal habits and similar colouring, and is sometimes, at least archaically, referred to as mopoke or mopawk , also used for the Australian boobook, whose call is often confused with the tawny frogmouth's.

11.01.2022 Pirlirrpa is defined as the spirit, the soul, the person’s essence, and is believed to reside in the kidneys; yiwiringgi is a person’s Conception Dreaming, defined in the Warlpiri dictionary as an individual’s: life-force or spirit which is localised in some natural formation and which may determine the spiritual nature of a person from conception and the relation of that person to the life-force. For example: When a baby is conceived, it might be in an important Rain Drea...ming place, then they call that child Rain Dreaming. The child came into being in that Rain Dreaming site Photo: Peggy Rockman Napaljarri, Warlpiri, 2010, Mukaki Jukurrpa (‘Bush Plum Dreaming’), acrylic on canvas, 39x125 cm.
