20.01.2022 Essential Riding Kit - Riding Solo While we are out riding solo on our road rides ensure you have the essentials with you. Probably need to take a little more t...han usual as there won't be others to help out or assist if something goes wrong. Inner Tube - Take at least one inner tube with you in the event you get a puncture, even if you are using a tubeless set up a cut might not seal up with the sealant and you might need to put a tube in. Co2 Trigger or Mini Pump - You will need something to inflate the tube. Co2 Canisters - Take at least two canisters with you. You might get a second puncture or your first attempt with the Co2 inflation might go wrong, especially if you haven't inflated a tyre with one before. Quick Fix Patch Kit - A self adhesive patch kit can come in useful if you get trouble with a damaged tube or the double flat. Tyre Boot - People often use a $ note if you get a large hole in a tyre. People are not carrying money at the moment so ensure you have a purpose made tyre boot or a $ note in your kit. Tyre Levers - A couple of good quality tyre levers are essential to get tyres off. Multi Tool - A good quality multi tool is invaluable and it could save you from a call to be rescued! Even if you are not confident about bike maintenance you would probably manage to tighten a lose saddle clamp bolt or stem bolt. Mobile Phone - Ensure you tell a family member where you are going and make sure you take your mobile phone so you can call them in case of an issue and you need collecting. Ideally we don't want to use public transport, taxi etc as a way of getting home. Also ensure your ICE details are up to date. Lights - You are riding on your own, so you are less visible to other road users. Using your lights on flash mode during day light hours will make you more visible. Form of Identification - Take something like your drivers license with you. If you are unfortunate to have an incident that leaves you unconscious, some one will be able to identify you. Card not Cash - Take a debit or credit card with you. If you need to purchase something in an emergency, you might find the retailer will not be taking cash at this time. Food - Take an additional food item with you. Even if you are going for a planned 1 hour ride, it might turn into a longer ride for what ever reason. You don't want to be hunger flatting out on the road, there is no one there to give you a gel! Water - Again, ensure you have more than enough, solo rides can go on for longer than planned and communal tapes and water fountains are a big no no at this time. Enjoy your riding, stay safe and we hope to see you in the workshop or out on the road very soon.
