25.01.2022 With COVID-19 demonstrating the potential risk presented by Biological agents, members of 3 CER pride themselves on the ability to respond and act to threats across the CBRN continuum. 16 TP, 16 CE SQN as the specialist CBRN element operated the Light Decontamination Station (LDS) in support of B SQN 2nd Cavalry Regiment. The activity allowed 16 TP to practically demonstrate an important capability and culminated some significant training on the Troops specialist capability o...ver the previous weeks. This isnt the first time that 2 CAV and 16 TP have worked together in Decontamination, with A SQN 2 CAV conducting Vehicle Decontamination Trials in August 2019. This activity continued the Units integration training, allowing B SQN 2 CAV personnel to be exposed to a capability that many havent before. Although 16 CE SQN are now moving into a period of Combat Team specific training, this activity will provide a baseline for 16 CE TP to continue to build-off moving into September. #followthesapper #pheonixsquadron
25.01.2022 Mothers Day 2020 is special for 3rd Combat Engineer Regiments Sapper Kira Tisdell. Its the first she will celebrate as a mother to her 10 month old daughter.... Motherhood is hard, but so rewarding, Sapper Kira Tisdell said. "Its a whole new learning experience." That experience was amplified with Sapper Tisdell returning to the regiment full-time after her maternity leave. It has been a challenge wrapping my head around everything again. I have to refresh my skills and almost learn everything again. There are a lot of new faces, but Im with some of the team I used to work with and it has been good to have familiar faces around me. The unit has been really good to me and it has been a really positive experience. To the mothers of our 3rd Brigade community, we wish you all a very Happy Mothers Day.
24.01.2022 #OurPeople gave residents in Omeo, Victoria a closer look at some of the vehicles and equipment they had seen locally for #OpBushfireAssist. There was a variet...y of equipment on display, including the Rheinmetall HX40m and HX77 trucks, the Bushmaster Protected Mobility Vehicle and metal detecting equipment. 24.01.2022 Get them out quick, before the smoke gets thick! Emergency Response Troop has been busy the last few weeks targeting training serials across their broad spectrum of responsibility. An agile and versatile capability, our operator emergency responders are well-prepared to support warfighting, humanitarian assistance, and disaster relief efforts. Responsibilities of this specialist capability include aircraft and road accident rescue, fire-fighting, hazardous material identification and CBRN-D. The team is looking forward to the training over the coming months, supporting 3 BDE as a Ready Now and Future Ready force. #ClydesdaleSQN #TeamOfTeams #FollowtheSapper

23.01.2022 Our diverse, agile and adaptive combat engineers recently conducted a series of obstacle breach training scenarios as part of the 3rd Brigade - Australian Armys Exercise Brolga Run. Ex Brolga Run culminated in a combined arms live fire exercise, Long Khanh, which allowed the men and women of the regiment to conduct explosive obstacle breaches as part of a combat team deliberate attack. #followthesapper #goodsoldiering

19.01.2022 Diverse Fleet, Diverse Workforce! Over the last two weeks, 3 CER's Royal Australian Corps of Transport (RACT) personnel have been busy instructing and coordinating an Army Driving Instructor course, as well as maintaining their standard daily tasks. The RACT team provide a major enabling function within the unit, and the last few weeks have reinforced their importance, to not just 3 CER, but the brigade as a whole. A small team of RACT drivers and the Transport Warrant Office...r are responsible for employing a highly diverse fleet of vehicles in 3 CER. 3 CER manages one of the most diverse fleet within the brigade, from armoured fighting vehicles to heavy plant and transport, and their efforts are key to interoperability and mobility within 3 CER and the 3rd Brigade - Australian Army. Whether they are moving personnel, transporting cargo, delivering water, fuel, ammunition or vital defensive stores or instructing other members of the Regiment on how to drive different vehicles, RACT are an important enabler to 3 CER mission success.
18.01.2022 It was a special treat for Task Group Dingo to be involved with kindergarten-year one reading groups from Omeo and Swifts Creek Primary Schools. Member o...f the multinational contingent attended both schools and spent quality time with the kids. Reading circles are moments in the day when the class would gather and are led through a childrens book. There were also plenty of questions from the students about the military and involvement with the area. #OpBushfireAssist #ourCommunity
16.01.2022 Engineers in action! Our soldiers have been conducting obstacle breach training tasks as part of 3rd Brigade - Australian Armys Exercise Brolga Run 2020. Obstacle breaching is considered one of the most difficult tasks a combat force can encounter, but for the men and women of the regiment, its an opportunity to put our training and unique skills to the test. ... #goodsoldiering #alwaysready
16.01.2022 While her role as Chief Clerk of 3rd Combat Engineer Regiment, looking after approximately 350 personnel keeps her busy, Warrant Officer Class 2, and mother of ...one, Kirsty Reason knows the importance of creating a healthy work-life balance. Its a tough gig sometimes, WO2 Reason says. You put your heart and soul into your job and you want to do the best that you can. Were always trying to look out for the guys here in the regiment and sometimes your family life gets put aside if youre coming to work early or staying back late. But having that realisation that when you have a family, youve got to leave on time and youve got to be happy with that because you need to spend time with your family. And spending quality time her son and teaching him new skills is how she will be spending Mothers Day this year. Well be having a picnic and a bike ride. My son has recently learned to ride so were making the most of that and the beautiful Townsville weather. Happy Mothers Day Kirsty! Check back throughout the day to meet more mums of the 3rd Brigade.
15.01.2022 Building bridges to a new start for the community. Literally! Task Group Dingo, alongside our Pacific neighbours from the Republic of Fiji Military Forces,... will today commence construction on a bridge in the Buchan Caves Reserve to replace those which were completely burnt in last months fires. Once the bridge is constructed, it will allow Parks Victoria to re-open the caves to the public. Given they are the major tourist attraction in the region and drive a lot of the economy in the town It is important to complete the bridge ASAP. When you think of teamwork there is no better example than this task. Working alongside the civil authorities, the members of Task Group Dingo from Townsvilles 3rd Brigade and the PNG Defence Force are working alongside the Republic of Fiji Military Forces who were transported by members of Brisbanes 8th/9th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment and supported by members of Victorias Reserve Engineers from 4th Brigade - Australian Army. Yesterday they cleaned up the bridge site, conducted training and prepared the site to commence today. #OpBushfireAssist #Teamwork #InternationalTeam
13.01.2022 The 7th of June marks National Military Working Dog day, acknowledging the exceptional work and sacrifice of one our militaries greatest assets. 3 CERs specially trained Explosive Detection Dogs and handlers form part of this tight-knit-group! The Explosive Detection Dogs (EDD) first appeared in 1981, when the Royal Australian Engineers (RAE) ceased training Mine Dogs and began training the modern EDD. This unique and effective capability is a force multiplier that provides ...manoeuvrability and survivability support to commanders, and has been utilised in most modern conflicts where Improvised Explosive Devices have been encountered. They enable a search task to be conducted quickly and with a high degree of reliability, making them one of the most highly valued and frequently requested assets overseas. An essential part of a dog team is the bond between the handler and their dog. This bond runs deep, and the mutual trust and affection shared between handler and dog is a driving force in trying moments. It is strengthened from time spent together, as well as the effort the handler puts into the care and training of their EDD. Each dog will only have one handler at any time, and the trust placed in those four paws grows every day. The bond is so strong that most handlers take their dogs with them when they retire The day is also the anniversary of the death of Sapper Darren Smith, Sapper Jacob Moreland & Explosive Detection Dog Herbie in 2010 in Afghanistan. Sadly Darren was the first dog handler KIA (Killed In Action) while working a Military Dog within the ADF. Lest we forget. #FollowtheSapper #Ubique #ClydesdaleSQN
13.01.2022 The work never stops! Whilst the start of 2020 has been difficult, it hasn’t stopped our Sappers from achieving some awesome training! Members from 18 Combat Engineer Squadron have been conducting a number of survivability tasks to hone their Combat Engineer skill - from basic fighting position construction to a full stage 3 Command Post.... The revision of these key skills will not only build knowledge and experience on the task site, but also help solidify the important role we play in a Combined Arms environment with provision of Force Protection Engineering in support of the 3rd Brigade - Australian Army! #followthesapper #armouredengineers #alwaysready
13.01.2022 Today we held a small memorial for the 10th anniversary of the deaths of Sappers Darren Smith and Jacob Moerland who were killed in action by an IED in Afghanis...tan while on a foot patrol in the Miribad Valley. Darrens Explosive Detection Dog, Herbie, was also killed in the blast. Lest we forget.
12.01.2022 Teamwork makes the bridge work! As part of #OpBushfireAssist Task Group Dingo alongside soldiers from Republic of Fiji Military Forces, 4th Brigade - Aus...tralian Armys 22nd Engineer Regiment, and civil agencies have completed two Medium Girder Bridges at the Buchan Caves Reserve. 12.01.2022 The 3 CER Trade Section has been active in completing a wide range of tasks during 2020. The team has recently completed a concrete slab to enhance the units physical training facilities, and has conducted multiple training projects within the unit workshop. In addition, our tradies have been busy conducting All Corps training in the form of weapons handling, marksmanship practices, communications and medical training. This will maintain our operational capability and ensur...e that the team is #readynow! The Trade Capability is transitioning focus to upcoming deployment on exercise, where they will deliver combat construction facilities in support of the Combined Arms Team. 10.01.2022 For our teams to be #readynow, we need to develop the fundamental combat skills in a progressive training environment. #OurPeople from the 18th Combat Engineer Squadron had the opportunity to qualify on the 12.7mm QCB, as part of 3 CERs mechanisation continuum. This essential training will ensure our soldiers are #futureready, preparing the regiment to meet the requirements for the new fleet of vehicles under Project LAND 8160 (introduction of the new heavy armoured engineer...ing vehicles) and the weapon systems they require. Of course the training was only possible thanks to the strong relationship maintained with 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment as a part of our a #combinedarmsteam! 09.01.2022 Diverse Fleet, Diverse Workforce! Over the last two weeks, 3 CERs Royal Australian Corps of Transport (RACT) personnel have been busy instructing and coordinating an Army Driving Instructor course, as well as maintaining their standard daily tasks. 09.01.2022 At 3 CER Log does happen! Distribution is the operational process of synchronising all elements of the logistic system to deliver the right things to the right place at the right time to support the commander. The 40M is a new replacement for the old Uni-Mog and provides 3 CER with an excellent distribution capability.... Here we can see members of Royal Australian Army Ordnance Corps (RAAOC) receiving training and familiarisation on the new vehicle so they can maintain a high level of logistic support to 3 CER. Their knowledge and expertise on these vehicles is a high priority for 3 CER. With training and continued employment of these vehicles, 3 CER will continue to improve the capability of its 40Ms as critical platform for the transportation and distribution of personnel, equipment and critical stores to its Sappers. That way RAOOC will consistently ensure they get what the sappers need at the right place and right time.
09.01.2022 This year as a part of the Queens Birthday Awards a former Commanding Officer of 3 CER, the late Colonel Robert Andrew Sanders was recognised and awarded a Conspicuous Service Cross for outstanding devotion to duty and achievement as Director Land, Army Headquarters. COL Sanders, who served as CO 3 CER from Jan 2013- Jan 2015, was recognised as a top bloke and an exceptional military officer, whos service impacted the lives of many current and former members of the Regim...ent, the Corps and the Army. 3 CER would like to recognise and thank COL Sanders and his family for their service. 08.01.2022 Today the Commanding Officer and all of 3 CER were able to join Operational Support Squadron in celebrating the 118th birthday of the Royal Australian Army Ordnance Corps! The RAAOC team are a critical part of the team at 3 CER, enabling supply and sustainment as a part of the combined arms team! Thank you to all our RAAOC personnel and we look forward to another 118 years of service together!
08.01.2022 Work in progress!! 3 CER are heavily invested in ensuring our soldiers are combat ready. In good engineer spirit, we have asked our soldiers to put their skills and trades to good use by leading the charge and building a combatives centre for the soldiers of the 3rd Brigade - Australian Army. It is very early days in the construction, but through the development of both a dedicated ACP and martial arts areas, the aim for this centre is to provide a space to build our soldiers knowledge and skills in hand to hand combat. Watch this space! #combatmindset #followthesapper
08.01.2022 The work never stops! As COVID-19 restrictions begin to ease, members of 3 CER Workshops are back maintaining the Units diverse fleet of modern equipment. As 3 CER continues along the road to ready a high tempo period where we train, prepare and become certified to take on known and contingency tasks on behalf of the Australian Army it is now more important than even to ensure our equipment is as ready as our soldiers.
07.01.2022 Task Group Dingo continues to work hard in Omeo, Swifts Creek and the surrounding areas of Victoria as part of #OpBushfireAssist. 07.01.2022 3 CER would like to wish a Happy Birthday to LCPL Wooleston Woolly Boorooma VI. Wooleston Boorooma VI arrived in Townsville in October 2016 hailing from Bargo, New South Wales the birth place of Bruiser the first Mascot of 3 CER. Woolly VI is an Alpine Dingo who honestly hasnt taken well to the North Queensland Heat, and as a result can often be found lounging in the shade or hiding in the 3 CER Regimental Headquarter Building. Woolly VI has also taken quick advantage ...of his rank (being promoted early last year in the hopes it might turn his performance around we are still waiting to see it happen), often persuading the younger Sappers of the Regiment to carry him for his Daily walk instead of walking himself. In the end Woolly VI is an instrumental member of the Regiment and we look forward to many more years of his service! The 3 CER Mascot Canis Lupus Dingo has been an instrumental part of the Units identity although no one really knows why it was chosen as a mascot, although it may have something to do with 3 CER as a part of the #AllAustralianBrigade. As the 1979 CO 3 FER LTCOL John Crocker stated in his request to have the mascot approved for service A dingo would provide the unit a truly Australian and individual identity. Regardless, MA0117 SPR Wooleston Booroma (aka Bruiser), the first in a line of Woolestons arrived at RAAF Base Townsville ready to start his military career - He was the first dingo enlisted into the Australian Army and into the 3rd Field Engineer Regiment although he would not be the last. The 3 CER Dingoes have maintained a proud place in the Units history, although not all have brought the best attention, they are part of what makes 3 CER Great! If you are ever around 3 CER come and say hello to LCPL Woolly VI!
07.01.2022 A bridge has once again joined two sides of the Buchan Cave Reserve, after the Gippsland region was devastated by bushfires early this year. A team of #YourADF,... Papua New Guinea Defence Force and Republic of Fiji Military Forces personnel have worked together to turn the materials into a functioning bridge, which will enable national park workers and tourists to access the existing roads by vehicle. Based out of Omeo and Orbost in Victoria, Defence and our International Partners have been working with Victorian agencies throughout #OpBushfireAssist to return fire-affected communities to normality. 06.01.2022 Prepared for any contingency! 3 CER Workshops provided members of the regiment a unique opportunity to experience ingress and egress from an overturned M113-AS4, as a part of 3 CERs continued readiness training. The M113-AS4 was safely lowered onto its side before soldiers proceeded to move into the rolled vehicle to simulate the surroundings in a roll-over situation - learning important lessons about the risks and dangers of vehicle operations, and the importance of equipment stowage and uniformity! 3 CER Workshops also demonstrated the capability of the newest Land 121 Heavy Recovery Vehicle the 45M. The 45M demonstrated the recovery of an APC in an attempt to complete an end-to-end recovery technique - a first for the Brigade. A great capability, managed by some great soldiers within the Unit!

05.01.2022 A message to our families, friends and the Townsville community from Commander 3rd Brigade, Brigadier Kahlil Fegan. We are proud to be part of the garrison city of Townsville and your support is vital to 3 Brigade remaining ready to serve the nation. #alwaysready
04.01.2022 The Army Indigenous Development Program (AIDP) aims to give Indigenous Australians the best chance of success in Defence by helping participants meet entry educ...ation standards for Army. But Private Shanika Murgha, from 3rd Brigades 3rd Combat Engineer Regiment, says the program is much more than that. The program is designed for Indigenous members to enhance their literacy and numeracy skills and their physical fitness, but it was also a really good way to get us used to the structure and culture of the Australian Army, Private Murgha said. We got a lot of insight and a lot of knowledge, it was like having a little cheat sheet to take to our training at Kapooka. Growing up in Yarrabah in tropical North Queensland, Private Murgha found the move away from her family home challenging. When I enlisted it was the first time Id actually left my home. Its a small community and Im very family orientated so it was really tough to leave but my family have backed me the whole way. They really encouraged me to go out and explore the world, to make something of myself. As an Indigenous woman and soldier, for Private Murgha National Reconciliation Week is about celebrating the melting pot of culture within the Australian Defence Force. For me it is all about the recognition of culture in the Army and Defence, not only of Indigenous members but all people of colour. Its about coming together and sharing not only our Army culture, but our individual cultures. Its about bringing yourself to the table and letting people know this is me, this is who I am. #NRW2020 #InThisTogether2020 Forces Command - Australian Army
03.01.2022 Over the last week the bond between Task Group Dingo and the Swifts Creek and Omeo community has deepened further. As the task group begin preparations f...or their return home they are reflecting how over such a short time they have become attached to the resilient community. During the week the completed landscaping work required at the Swifts Creek P-12 School. Vice Principal Barbera Napthine was extremely pleased and thankful for the effort put in by the team over the last few days. #OpBushfireAssist #OurCommunity
02.01.2022 The Soldiers of the regiment have continued to find ways to support the community whilst maintaining an appropriate social distance. A small gesture, but it can mean a lot. A phone conversation might seem like a small thing, but it was nice to just have a relaxed conversation with Defence families, past and present, and it was definitely a morale booster
02.01.2022 Our teams and their diverse skill sets are at the core of our ability to be #ReadyNow. #OurPeople from 25th Support Squadron, working closely with 1st Close Hea...lth Battalion - Australian Army, recently demonstrated a range of their capabilities. These capabilities, including combat rescue, explosive detection dogs, water purification, heavy plant operations, vertical construction and route clearance, are crucial elements for 3rd Brigade - Australian Army to maintain their readiness. #GoodSoldiering
02.01.2022 Somethings gotta give! At 3 CER, members are encouraged to find ways to support not only each other, but also the wider community. Times have been tough for the Douglas Life Blood Donor Centre due to COVID 19, so in traditional engineer spirit members of the Regiment volunteered to support the community with donations. ... Over the last month, a total of 51 members from the 18th Combat Engineer Squadron, and other members from the Regiment, rolled up their sleeves to donate Plasma. For some members it was their first time donating; others were racking up double digits in their donation history. If you or anyone wants to #followthesapper and wishes to get involved, you can book an appointment by calling 13 14 95 or visiting https://www.donateblood.com.au/
