16.01.2022 Important Bush Fire Information We are all saddened by the devastation and loss caused by the bush fires raging across many parts of Australia. All at the Found...ation are thinking of the family and friends who have lost loved ones, colleagues and others, and offer our sincere condolences. We are also thinking of those who have lost animals, property, and in many cases livelihoods. We are praying for their wellbeing now, and into the future. We are extremely concerned about people entering a fire damaged area which could contain asbestos or other deadly contaminates. To do so without taking adequate precautions is extremely dangerous. Before entering a fire damaged area, you need to be mindful of the risks and how to manage them. You can find out more about the dangers, and how to manage the risk [plus direct links to the relevant Australian Governments Asbestos Safety and Eradication Agency (ASEA) website page and Australian state and territory governments relevant website pages and fact sheets], by going to the Bernie Banton websites Asbestos Awareness Australia page link by clicking this link: http://bit.ly/BBF-AAA-Fire-Flood-2EE3CCe

01.01.2022 This morning I attended the funeral of Kate. Kate was a much loved mother, wife, sister of Anita Sweeney, daughter, friend and fellow skater. Kate aka Kate Sco...tt represented Australia at the World Synchronised Skating Championships in Helsinki. Kate passed away at 35 years old from Mesothelioma- cancer due to exposure to Asbestos. Kate was exposed to asbestos as a young girl due to someone illegally dumping this hazardous material. Last week in NSW according to media reports the first ever jail sentence in Australia was given for someone illegally dumping asbestos. According to media reports this was the 3rd time this person had been caught dumping asbestos. He was given a 3 year jail sentence. As a human and as an OHS Professional this is not acceptable. How many other victims will there be from this persons 3 dumpings of asbestos. 3 strikes is too many, 3 years is too short. There are laws around the safe removal and dumping of Asbestos for a reason. It Kills!! RIP Kate See more
01.01.2022 Banned in Australia in late 2003, asbestos has left a legacy that will remain for many years to come. As a general rule, if your house was built... before the... mid-1980s it is HIGHLY LIKELY between the mid-1980s and 1990, it is LIKELY after 1990, it is UNLIKELY (but possible) that it has #asbestos-containing products. Many people are not aware that it is common to find ASBESTOS IN BATHROOMS (pre-1990). If youre thinking of renovating yours, make sure you get an asbestos assessor to check for #asbestos before you start to protect you and your family. If youre unsure, send us a pic and description of your project and we will ASK OUR EXPERT on your behalf. . . #asbestossafety #asbestoslurks #besafe #beasbestosaware #reflections Asbestos Safety and Eradication Agency Reflections HealthyWA ANZ Enviro + Australian Asbestos Network Master Builders Western Australia
