22.01.2022 For some mums, a phone call to ABA, a cup of tea at a group meeting, a conversation on LiveChat something as simple as this can be the reason she continues to... breastfeed her baby. ABAs services make a world of difference to thousands of Australian families every year. In order to continue the work that we do, ABA relies on the generosity of our community. Thats why we are asking for donations for our 2020 Tax Appeal. If you would like to donate, and are in a position to do so please visit >> aba.asn.au/taxappeal20 #abataxappeal #supportaba #mumssupportingmums

16.01.2022 Its common to have questions about your milk supply. In the early weeks and months, you and your baby are getting to know each other. You work together to buil...d your supply. Feeding your baby whenever they need it will help them get all the milk they need to grow and develop. Its important to remember that every baby is different. If youd like to speak to someone, our trained volunteer breastfeeding counsellors are here 24/7 to answer your questions. Call 1800 686 268 for mother-to-mother support today. You can also read more about supply here: https://aba.asn.au/moremilk
15.01.2022 Have you heard of cluster feeding? This refers to a period of time when your baby seems to want a lot of short feeds very close together. This is very normal. Read our article at https://aba.asn.au/icantputthemdown #clusterfeeding #breastfeeding #normalbabybehaviour #firsttrimester

14.01.2022 June 15th-21st is Mens Health Week. Its time we take time out to support all the dads out there as often we focus on mums as they navigate their breastfeeding... journey. Navigating life with a new baby can be difficult for both parents, and post-natal depression can just as real for dads as it can be for mums. Common physical signs might include: - tiredness - lack of appetite - trouble sleeping, or sleeping and waking at unusual times weight loss or gain. You might feel: - sad - guilty or ashamed - cranky, anxious and angry - isolated or disconnected from your partner, friends or family - unable to enjoy things you used to find fun or pleasurable. (https://raisingchildren.net.au//antenatal-postnatal-depres) These are just some of the symptoms you might be feeling if suffering from postnatal depression. If you are feeling like this and it lasts for more than 2 weeks, it would be helpful to check in with your medical practitioner.
14.01.2022 How do we get babies to sleep? It is normal for them to fall asleep at the breast. If we hold them until they fall into deep sleep (about 20 minutes) before m...oving, it reduces the chance of baby waking again. #BabySleep #breastfeeding #NormalBabyBehaviour #ParentToParentSupport #BabySleepTips See more

13.01.2022 On this day, in 1964, a small group of mothers got together in a Melbourne lounge room and formed NMA to support breastfeeding mothers, and educate the communit...y about the importance of breastfeeding. NMA became NMAA and then ABA. 57 years later, we're still here, still supporting breastfeeding families, still educating the community. Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers who have taken Helpline calls, run group meetings and Breastfeeding Education Classes, spoken to school groups, health care providers and politicians, answered questions on Live Chat and email, and our Facebook group. Join ABA to help us support you https://aba.asn.au/ABAMembership Happy birthday, ABA!!
