25.01.2022 Meet the team | Jelena Novkovic is a laboratory technician and works in the serology department at our Clayton lab in Victoria. Jelena’s work days are busy as she focuses on turning around patient results as quickly as possible. She has been working for Clinical Labs for 5 years analysing important samples for measles, mumps, herpes simplex, mycoplasma pneumonia, hepatitis, HIV and many more. Jelena also runs a range of serology tests, for animals, for our veterinary and zoo customers. She loves her job and the great friends she has met along the way, Jelena says they are like a big family. She feels incredibly passionate about working in pathology and has a real appreciation for the important impact her role plays in helping patients.

21.01.2022 Did you know that by the end of winter every year approximately 36% of Australians are vitamin D deficient? Vitamin D deficiency is of concern as it can lead to a variety of health conditions such as a loss of bone density, which can contribute to osteoporosis and fractures. 16.01.2022 Reported cases of syphilis and congenital syphilis in Australia have been increasing in recent years. This is concerning as congenital syphilis can result in stillbirth, prematurity, low birth weight, or neonatal death. In the below article, expert Clinical Labs pathologist Dr Linda Dreyer highlights the state-based trends, why it’s a problem, what we can do and treatment. Dr Dreyer says Syphilis is still a challenging disease to diagnose, and true to the name the Great Imitator may masquerade as a wide range of other medical conditions. 02.01.2022 Meet the team | David Rodrigues is a member of our courier team from Bella Vista NSW, and has been with our business for more than 28 years! Clinical Labs courier drivers have the important responsibility of safely transporting patient pathology samples back to our labs for analysis. In reflecting on his time with the business David said The best thing about my job is that I have met a lot of people and made many friends. I believe that the health and wellbeing of the people in our community depend on us and what we do. Every morning I’m out there on the road and I feel like I’m making an important contribution. People need us and that is what gives me purpose and meaning in what I’m doing.
