25.01.2022 I have seen some discussion online on schools and Tourette Syndrome lately. The Tourette Syndrome Association of Australia (TSAA) has heaps of cool resources. http://www.tourette.org.au Also, please find attached via JPG the Education Queensland (Qld) document I did a while ago with Education Qld as a TSAA and Education Qld collaboration project for teaching staff in Qld to access and give them a hint by there own Department of what they need to start thinking about if they ...have a student with TS and links to the TSAA. If you want a copy to send to your teacher to educate them about their own procedures and give them one of their own documents as a hint, the TSAA should have a copy they can send you or message me and I'll flick it to you as a PDF. Don't forget to look up the TSAA website, join up and access all their great resources for teachers as well - Mr River Night, CEO See more

21.01.2022 The Qld Government post this morning listing restricted suburbs on the South Side of Brisbane seems to have caused a stir with some people and staff thinking it meant all those suburbs are in full lock down again. We have now eased restrictions to level 3 in Qld. The only extra restriction in place on the South Side suburbs this morning so far is to restrict visitors to Aged Care Facilities which is a good safety measure just in case, while they sort out the new cases and c...ontract trace. I had a chat to the awesome COVID team this morning. For specific updates and clear information about the actual restrictions this is a good site to use from Qld Health as it gives the directive with detail. In the NDIS space we are always extra cautious anyway so keep safe and social distance. Restrictions can change and be updated so this is a good site to have - Mr River Night - CEO - Australian Communities https://www.health.qld.gov.au//queensland-covid-19-restric See more

19.01.2022 The Contemporary Provider Model for Service Delivery and Practice in the Disability Sector. Please like and Follow our page now. We work with Service Providers to Raise the Bar and Create a Disability Sector we can all be proud of. The deep pain that many Service Providers experience is loosing clients, going out of business, abuse and neglect of participants that are choosing to purchase their services. We think there are 3 key problems that Service Providers and the secto...rs we work in constantly struggle with; staff competency and capability, the complexity of the industry and a lack of enforcement and accountability. Legislation and compliance are just starting points. The primary principles that service providers need to understand and live everyday are Transparency, Commitment, Authenticity, Customer Centred Work, Contemporary Practice and Safety. When these principles become your method you will experience understanding, educated, proactive and effective staff, simplified, clear practice and accessible information, best practice and accountability used to strengthen systems. We call this the Contemporary Provider Model for Service Delivery and Practice in the Disability Sector and we would love to share this with you to see real change in how NDIS Service Providers do business. We believe in relationships. When contacting us, we will talk with you about what you are looking for and together we will decide if we are a good fit. You can send us a message or email our CEO Mr River Night [email protected] https://www.facebook.com/AustralianCommunities A reminder to all; Any posts that are not respectful or constructive will be deleted.

09.01.2022 It is important for everyone in our community to be as safe as possible with COVID-19 spreading. Please see below the link for Queensland Health with clear instructions for services in our sector. There are new strict directives for settings supporting 4 or more participants together in particular. Also please remember - don't buy silly amounts of toilet paper and stock pile it. It wont run out and the only thing that causes the shortage is people buying it all in fear of a ...shortage - if you have symptoms just get tested - if you have ideas about it being a conspiracy please seek help from mental health services This is an information post and any discussion about politics or personal theories will be deleted. 06.01.2022 This week we had the lovely Kaye, our local Thermomix Consultant, train our staff on how to use the Thermomix and support one of the participants we work with that recently had a Thermomix funded by NDIS to allow them more independence in the kitchen. So quick and so yum. We tried out a quick curry and some fruit sorbet Nom Nom Nom *this is an un-sponsored post and we don''t own any shares in Thermomix. We just thought it was a really cool piece of tech Check out Kaye and hav...e a chat to her on her FB page about how it really supports some participants with their independence in the kitchen and how you might go about talking to NDIS if this would work for you. https://www.facebook.com/mixingwithkaye/ See more

Everyone has had a hair cut recently so they are looking a bit skinny. Here's our Alpaca named ''Happy'' saying hi gang. Hope everyone is having a great week!
