19.01.2022 We have started work on the expansion of the Community Farm at @liveatthecape This farm will support residents to grow their own food, as well as providing heaps of other amenities such as an orchard beekeeping plant nursery and community hub! The Cape’s farm will be one of the larger community garden projects in Victoria, and will provide heaps of food to the local community. Very happy to be working with the @thesustainablelandscapecompany who designed and is constructing this farm. #urbangarden #communitygarden #urbanfarming #agriculture #sustainability

16.01.2022 We are coming into seed collection season again, with grasslands, woodlands, wetlands, heathlands, coastal vegetation communities and other ecosystems flowering and getting ready to set seed. Our skilled team of seed collectors are out in the environment and carefully collecting seed for our upcoming planting projects. We love the diversity of shapes, colours and forms of native seeds. Seed collection is a highly skilled task, and good seed collectors have great botanical knowledge, eye for detail, patience and intuition. Australian Ecosystems’ seed bank contains several thousand seed lots, and allows us to produce several million plants per annum for biodiversity and waterway restoration projects #biodiversity #protectnature #naturebasedsolutions

16.01.2022 Australian Ecosystems/ The Sustainable Landscape Company have had the privilege to design and build this productive community farm for Glen Junor at Gisborne, Victoria. The farm features Melbourne designed and manufactured Biofilta wicking beds as the centrepiece of food production. This is a really exciting project and we hope to see efficient urban farms built on new estates and retrofitted into existing communities for all the benefits they bring. ... This farm was built and planted out 6 weeks ago and had its first harvest for charity this week #foodsecurity #resilience #naturebasedsolutions

14.01.2022 If you like walkable and cyclable communities, clean air and nature, check out this 2 minute film on the walking and cycling paths we have been building at The Cape sustainable estate at Cape Paterson near Phillip Island, which is becoming of the most walkable and cyclable communities in Australia. Kilometres of granitic sand paths meander through the community, taking in wetlands, restored habitat, wildlife, childrens playground, ocean views and connect to our local surfing and swimming beaches. Stage 4 is coming soon. #seachange #echange #naturebathing #justbreathe https://www.facebook.com/132478886922724/posts/1400537166783550/?vh=e&extid=txSvOoOpVZKu9BDV

08.01.2022 Australian Ecosystems and our residential division The Sustainable Landscape Company, and our sister company Biofilta have thrown our resources and expertise behind Melbourne Skyfarm which is set to become reality in 2021. 07.01.2022 We have been busy restoring and maintaining sections of Clyde Creek for many years. We've worked on multiple projects, collaborating with with Melbourne Water, Villawood Properties, MDGLA, Stockland Living, Spiire and more. Check out some of our work here including Delaray wetlands, a huge wetland in Clyde North.

06.01.2022 Sometimes you get to work with great people on really inspiring projects and this is one of them, a proposed large scale, innovative urban farm at Glen Junor in the Gisborne area, north of Melbourne, working with Nigel Sharp and Odonata. Designed by The Sustainable Landscape Company and Australian Ecosystems, the farm has the potential to produce large amounts of food for the community and local charities, and to show how new communities can become more food secure, sustaina...ble and circular economy. The community farm design includes large areas for plot holders, orchard, farmers market space, cafe, playground, education area, rainwater harvesting, composting areas and more. Stage one of the farm has been built and planted out and is bursting with produce. Very keen to see these beautiful assets in all new communities to improve future food security and deliver a raft of benefits - nutrition, exercise, social connection, reduced food bills. We produced a detailed briefing paper on the farm including design features, governance, revenue streams which can be read at the link below for those interested in a deep dive. Congrats to the Glen Junor team for thinking outside the square, it will be a project worth watching. Great work on the briefing paper Eily Skillz. #circulareconomy #foodsecurecommunities Briefing Paper http://www.theslc.com.au/blog/glen-junor-urban-farm

06.01.2022 It's not everyday we 'discover' new mammal species! Australia's Greater Glider is now understood to be three separate species, one of which lives in Victoria and NSW's eastern eucalypt forests. This highlights why we work hard to preserve and regenerate Victoria's vegetation.

06.01.2022 Slender knotweed (Persicaria decipiens) is such a lovely native aquatic or terrestrial trailing plant In flower now, and shot at our nursery by @will.hamiltoncoates #wetlands #nativeflowers #nativeplants #horticulture
