06.01.2022 Today marks the middle of National NAIDOC Week 2020: Always Was, Always Will Be. We acknowledge that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were Australia’s first explorers, first navigators, first scientists, first people on this land. It is their adaption and intimate knowledge of Country that transformed this land from the harshest habitable continent into a place of bounty. First Nations people are Australia’s first custodians and our first example of how we can min...dfully manage our natural assets to live in harmony with our environment and provide a resourceful future for our next generations. This sustainability ethos is what drives our work at the Australian Energy Foundation, as we lead towards an equitable zero carbon society. This NAIDOC Week 2020, we invite everyone in our AEF community and Australia to learn more about the true history of this country a history which dates back thousands of generations, predating European contact. First Nations people have occupied and cared for this land for over 65,000 years one of the oldest continuing cultures on this planet. We celebrate our country’s true history and we recognise that sovereignty was never ceded. Always Was, Always Will Be. NAIDOC Week 2020: 8 to 15 November.
