25.01.2022 "Every one of us that's not a farmer, is not a farmer because we have farmers. We delegate the responsibility of feeding our families to a relatively small percentage of [the population]..." This powerful speech applies to all farmers everywhere - have a listen.
23.01.2022 Paul Duffield has some good things to say about family farming. Australian Farm Albums loves to document farms and family farm businesses like this.
20.01.2022 Father and son in the sheepyards. The vast majority of farms in Australia are family owned. Many farmers and their families will be working over the Easter weekend. In our neck of the woods, with 18mm of rain yesterday there was no stopping for Good Friday. Whether you are working or holidaying over Easter we hope you’re enjoying time with your family!
19.01.2022 At a clearing sale, the lineup of utes is extensive. If you can zoom in you notice that there are some utes with canopies, dual cab utes with short trays, some utes towing trailers, a few spare wheels on trays, and the vast majority of them are white. And there are also a few cars and a few small trucks. Anywhere there is a gathering of farmers, there will be a parking area full of utes! #australianfarmers #aussiefarmers ... #farminglife #clearingsales #australianruralphotography See more

16.01.2022 The Rain Gauge Is yours the good old fashioned plastic cylinder one or do you have one of those fancy ‘digital wireless self-emptying rain collectors’ that even tells you the temperature and humidity? Apart from not getting wet, what are the other benefits for going digital?... Maybe it doesn’t really matter what is used to measure the rain, as long as we actually get some! Ok, time for a quick facebook survey... are you old fashioned or fancy when it comes to your farm rain gauge?
15.01.2022 Dry seeding canola. At this time of year we spare a thought for the stress farmers face when up against the weather. They spend hundreds of thousands of dollars planting and growing crops with no guarantee that they’ll get a decent harvest at the end of it. And with no guarantee of a decent price for the grain they grow, their budgeting is really an educated gamble. Fingers crossed for rain #australianagriculture #cropping2019 #farmingfromtheair #djiphantom4 #dryseedingcanola #airseeder #steigertractor
13.01.2022 Feeding the poddy calves. Stormy (being bottle-fed) was a tiny little twin calf born on a stormy night. Dot (drinking from the bucket on the gate) is a friesian heifer being raised as a house cow, to supply milk for the family. Did you know that it is beneficial for calves to angle their head upwards to feed, as they do when drinking from their mother’s udder? #poddycalf #orphancalf #farminglife #countrylife #australianfarmphotos
13.01.2022 There is a time in a parent’s life that is both wonderful and scary at the same time when they become a passenger of an L Plate driver! Whilst you are proud that your offspring has reached this driving age milestone, you also now realise that you have the passenger seat for at least 50 hours! Farm kids generally become good drivers at an early age. But the only oncoming traffic in paddocks is usually a few hay bales and the odd few curious sheep or cows looking somewhat confused as the farm ute goes slowly around in circles. So when the time comes to put up the yellow L plates and head onto the wide open ‘main’ roads and highways, it’s a whole new driving paddock out there full of tight bends and fast on-coming traffic. Is it best to give tips or just sympathy to parents of future L plate drivers?!
12.01.2022 How good is Christmas on the farm? I’ve seen a few installations that have brought a smile to my face in my recent travels. The Santa begging for rain is an interesting one!
12.01.2022 Flying the drone requires a clear day with no rain and not much wind. There have been some beautiful days lately, and with the countryside looking green and Canola crops bright yellow it’s a great time for farm photography. #dronephotography #australianfarmphotography #aperfectbluesky #djiphantom4
11.01.2022 The colours of the landscape change with the seasons. Which is why a Lifetime Farm Album includes two visits by a photographer to the farm, and aerial drone photos too.
10.01.2022 When rain is desperately needed farmers pin their hopes on weather forecasts. I didn’t need to check the radar picture to know that it is raining - I can hear it on the tin roof of the homestead. Looking at the online image shows there is more to come. Fingers crossed that all who need it receive rain in good time. #rainfall #weatherforecast #bureauofmeteorology #desperatelyneedrain
03.01.2022 Women In Farming Enterprises (WIFE) is a support network for women involved in agricultural businesses. WIFE started with a group of 5 women wanting to share various farm management issues and challenges they had come across and learn from each other to improve their businesses. 03.01.2022 Here’s a great informative post about wool. A very sustainable and environmentally friendly fibre.
