25.01.2022 A message from our office - Things have been developing very quickly with respect to the spread of COVID-19 in the community. Where possible ABRI staff are now working from their home offices. ABRI has implemented systems to enable uninterrupted communications with members but request your patience and understanding if there are delays in receiving a response or if you need to use our voice mail service. In order to maximise our ability to respond to member service requests ...we ask that where possible, you communicate by electronic means (e.g. via email) rather than by telephone or by faxing or posting work requests. While the ABRI office is currently open with a limited number of staff in attendance we will continue to monitor the guidance issued by the relevant Government and medical authorities, and where necessary we will adjust our policies and plans as required. It is possible that further regulations may be implemented in coming days/weeks such that we may eventually need to close the office. We recognise that these are exceptional and unusual times and look forward to the support of members to manage through this challenge. To contact the office email - [email protected]

16.01.2022 Some great cross breeding work being done by our American cousins. Utilizing Gelbvieh genetics with Santa Gertrudis. Gelbvieh are an incredibly adaptable breed no matter where in the world you find them.

11.01.2022 Gelbrah Goes North. ATG has renewed its leaning toward Gelbvieh X Brahman animals bred for tropical conditions in the north. Whilst Gelbvieh are slightly tolerant of ticks they are not in any way resistant. Brahman content lifts that resistance. A 2yo Gelbrah bull by stud Brahman Bull Rojo Chef out of a PB Gelbvieh heifer recently caught the eye of our northern most Gelbvieh breeder, Thomas Berwick, Cherryburn Gelbvieh, Ravenshoe Atherton Tablelands. ... A few photographs and details plus a grade 2 Gelbvieh heifer from Kadfarm Gelbvieh to keep the boy company and he was on his way to Ravenshoe, in the Tropical North, a 1600 km journey. Thomas has been impressed with this own F1 Gelbrah animals. He experiences the same problems as we do in Gympie, being under constant pressure from cattle ticks. Ticks hammer the cattle and give the wallet a touch up into the bargain. 50% Brahman content relieves at least 50% of the tick pressure and provides an animal adapted to tropical northern conditions. Thomas has a nice line of F1 Gelbrah heifers ready to be covered by the new boy on the block. ATG enjoyed great success with a stabilised Gelbrah (F1 x F1) early in its history. Thomas is aiming for that same success. Good luck Thomas. Gelbvieh on Gympie

ACM is proud to announce the launch of a new online promotional opportunity and competition - Sire Shootout. Limitations may be in place on travel and visitors at the moment but that doesnt mean your animal has to go unnoticed. Sire Shootout is an opportunity to promote your bulls far beyond your ...local clientele, outside of your state border, and as far as an international audience. Beyond the prizes and competition status on offer, this is one of the best marketing opportunities we have ever offered. Entries open from May 11 until June 26 with your contributed photos and videos of each individual animal due by June 26. These will be collated by our team at Wild Colt Productions and a team of judges will then cast their eyes over each animal. Aleacea will be heading over to New Zealand later this year to meet breeders and explore Gelbvieh studs. Aleacea is passionate about Gelbvieh cattle and the opportunities this trip could provide - "I hope to be able to gain a lot from this experience and learn how other breeders in New Zealand and around the world operate. I hope to gain knowledge that I can bring home to improv...e my own herd and to see what I can bring to implement to help further the Gelbvieh Breed in Australia. I also hope to make friends and contacts that I we can bring to Australia for our shows as judges and participants. When I first heard about this trip, I thought I would like to set up a youth exchange with New Zealand by bringing over a New Zealand youth, to visit Australian studs and as judges and speakers." We look forward to hearing all about Aleceas trip later this year.
