12.01.2022 Aeon 2 Headphones San Diego-based Dan Clark Audio, previously known as Mr Speakers, has released its Aeon 2 headphones which, like the original Aeon model, are a planar-magnetic design that comes in two versions: circumaural and supra-aural (open and closed). Theyre now available from Dan Clarks exclusive Australian distributor, Advance Audio. The major improvement made to the Aeon 2 is a new motor system which is based on the one used in Dan Clarks flagship Ether 2 head...phones. The new motor system puts the magnet and flow structure behind the driver diaphragm, effectively removing air gaps. According to Clark, this has the effect of improving internal airflow. Dan has also re-voiced the Aeon 2s to give a warmer, fuller tone in the closed model and a leaner, lower midrange in the open one, as well as a much larger soundstage in both, while superior driver damping augments resolution and dynamics and delivers a smoother frequency response, said Nigel Ng, of Advance Audio. Another feature of the new Aeon 2 is a gimbal system that makes it easy to fold the headphones for travel. Unlike most foldable headphone designs, which fold by inverting the cups and tilting them towards the headband, the Aeon 2 has joints on each side that allow the headband to collapse on the top of the cups. Ng says this not only makes them easier to fold, but also maintain the clamping, fit, feel and structural integrity of the entire headphonesstructural integrity that has been improved in the Aeon 2 through the use of carbon-fibre plates in the driver assembly and extruded aluminium in the frame. Available now, the Dan Clark Aeon 2 headphones have a dark red leather headband and weigh 327 grams (without cable). Both the closed and open versions sell for $1,595 (RRP).
