"I am passionate about youth mental health and what can be done to reduce suicide and incarceration rates among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people," she said.

08.01.2022 A researcher from the University of Southern Queensland is uncovering the hidden histories of Australia's Indigenous nurses and midwives. Professor Odette Best,... an Indigenous nurse, teacher and researcher, has been granted $116,000 from the Federal Government to investigate the untold stories of Indigenous nursing prior to the 1950s. Professor Best, along with Professor Tracey Bunda from the University of Queensland, are challenging the assumption that Indigenous women were not able to access education or employment prior to the assimilation policy in Australia.
