25.01.2022 Another celebration to acknowledge hard work and maximum effort both in Education and in Industry at the Year 11 & 12 cohort Roofshout

25.01.2022 The AITC Sunny Coast young people wish to thank everyone in Industry for their support. We appreciate your involvement in the journey towards our Industry future.

25.01.2022 What was that video at Roof Shout all about? Watch it again below. At the AITC, giving back is in our DNA. To not only be industry leaders but to also make a difference in the world. COVID-19 has had a devastating impact on the Siem Reap economy, due to the immediate suspension of international tourism several months ago.... Every two years, AITC young people, employers and staff use their technical talents to improve the lives of critically poor families in Cambodia by building homes and repairing the New Hope school. But with international travel suspended, we need to help in other ways. We have hope. We have a plan. We have a goal. All will be revealed in Term 4. We just need you to say ‘I’m in’. #AITCImIn

25.01.2022 After an initial year of exploration which included Air Conditioning, Refrigeration and Butchery, Christian opted for Certificate II in Engineering in Year 11. When walking his dog one afternoon he noticed the O’Brien Plumbing Maroochydore utility van.Christian took initiative and called Peter King. After 5 weeks of WEX and showing a great work ethic, attitude and willingness to learn, Peter had no hesitation in offering Christian a School Based Apprenticeship. Thank you to Peter and the team and well done Christian!

24.01.2022 Sam began his career journey at the AITC in Year 11 in January 2019. He achieved a Certificate I in Construction at TAFE and completed a number of placements with plumbers across the Sunshine Coast as his first choice of trade. However when the AITC were introduced to opportunities at Australian Off Road in Bell's Creek, Sam was one of the first to put up his hand. Russell, General Manager at AOR was instantly impressed with Sam's time management, work ethic and willingness to learn. He called Sam in for a meeting and Sam was caught off guard (in a positive way) when he saw his Mum and his AITC Maths Team Leader there for the ‘meeting’ to celebrate the sign-up. Congratulations Sam, your hard work, courage and resilience have all been rewarded.

22.01.2022 "The job market has been through big upheavals in 2020 and that’s impacted which industries have the most demand for new workers. Huge pressure on the healthcare system and a growth in parcel delivery during COVID-19 are two key factors shaping the most-needed roles in Australia right now."

21.01.2022 Today we've recognised R U OK? Day, a reminder that every day is a day to start a conversation that could change a life.

20.01.2022 With over 500 hours in work experience completed at a number of mechanical workshops, Jackson found his place when he met John at All Coast Tyre Solutions in Yandina. Starting his traineeship as a tyre fitter, Jackson has the potential to progress into other automotive trade areas as he is mentored and trained by the dedicated and professional team at All Coast Tyre and Mechanical. Thank you John for the opportunity and Jackson, to a great future!

20.01.2022 Our induction camp is not about the mud. It's about forming lifelong friendships, finding comfort in the uncomfortable, and learning the basics for workplace safety before they head out to work experience. Rookies Camp in January 2021 was our biggest yet, with over 400 young people joining us for a spectacular 8-day camp at Emu Gully Adventure Education Group. The video below provides a small insight into the growth that occurred over the past week. To our newest young people..., we say "Welcome to the AITC!". #industryeducation #independentschools #tomorrowsindustryleaders #apprenticeships #qldjobs https://youtu.be/PeP4mgzx8hM

20.01.2022 Today at the AITC Sunshine Coast we drew attention to the importance of meaningfully connecting with people by asking the simple question Are you OK? Now could be a great time to ask someone Are you OK?" and to support them in the event that they are struggling. Thank you to all our chefs and organisers.

19.01.2022 Demonstrating a clear industry focus, Brayden knew he wanted to be an automotive mechanic after his first AITC work experience opportunity. His innate talent and willingness to work hard soon impressed Michael from Elite Mechanical & 4 x 4. Brayden also showed one of the AITC values, Respect, at his sign-up as he offered his proud mum a seat while he stood to accept this great opportunity. Well done Brayden and thank you Michael for your support.

19.01.2022 The Brief for our Year 10 Science class : Build a model that demonstrates the transfer or storage of energy and present your findings in appropriate scientific terminology.

17.01.2022 It is very rare that a young person is asked by an employer to become an apprentice after only one week of Work Experience. But Steve from Campbell Construction Co did just that. With a work ethic of the highest calibre and excellent employer appraisals from all his WEX placements across different industries, Jordan was the ideal apprentice candidate. A young man who is motivated to do well has just started his journey destined to succeed. Congratulations Jordan, well deserved.

15.01.2022 As one of the first young people enrolled at the AITC Sunshine Coast, this enthusiastic young man with the energetic personality was soon offered an apprenticeship with a local carpenter. Will was bitterly disappointed when things did not work out but, after completing his Certificate I in Construction at TAFE, he explored various trades for work experience. A Telecommunications Company, looking to recruit hardworking young people quickly signed Will up. But then Covid-19 put an abrupt end to Will's Traineeship. Ben Ray from Fort Knox Locksmiths was looking to expand his security and surveillance department with a second AITC young person and Will was the obvious choice. Will, your resilience and continued get-up-and-go have been rewarded. We are very proud of your efforts!

13.01.2022 Between taking ID photos, finding their way around the building and setting up their computers, it's been a busy day for our 2021 Rookies. So a sausage sizzle and some music were the perfect break at lunch time. Thank you to our 2021 Student Leader chefs and staff organisers.

10.01.2022 More impressive photos were taken as our Year 11 young people work towards their Certificate II in Information Digital Media Technologies (IDMT)

10.01.2022 The Year 10 Science class had to identify the main sources of energy used by industry in the 1700’s and determine how these devices have changed over time. And with hands-on learning, some impressive models were built to show how energy can be transferred.

09.01.2022 R U OK Day is coming up on Thursday 10 September, and this year, the focus is on continuing the conversation past 'R U OK?'. 2020 has been a challenging year for everyone, which is why, this year, R U OK? 09.01.2022 The Year 12 cohort continue to raise funds for worthwhile causes through innovative projects for their Certificate 3 Business course.

08.01.2022 Receiving some hard but constructive feedback from his initial work experience, Wilde had a challenging start to his first industry block. But demonstrating courage and respect by being accountable and taking the employer feedback on the chin, Wilde went on to make a really positive impact with his next employer, Barry at D&F Auto Care. The day before Wilde’s 16th birthday he was signed up to a school based apprenticeship a double celebration to be proud of! Thank you to Barry and well done Wilde.

08.01.2022 Nothing was too challenging for Daniel to try and he got on famously with the team. His positive attitude, interest in the job and application to the task made it easy for Debie and Rod from Maroochy Automotive to offer him a school-based apprenticeship. Well done Daniel, hard work and dedication gave you what you deserve!

07.01.2022 The AITC young people asked intelligent and relevant questions about superannuation when Sue and Kristiaan from BUSSQ came to the College to present the 2020 Alan Kiefer AITC Apprentice Scholarship. A well-deserved award to our dedicated and motivated student leader Jack, who continues to work diligently both at College and at his apprentice-employer Sugar Road Tyre And Mechanical. Thank you BUSSQ for the support that you continue to provide to our young people.

05.01.2022 Our young people engage in a range of work placements to engage them in their industry of choice. They enjoy a real world experience in the workplace and establish connections that may launch careers.

05.01.2022 You could hear a pin drop when Greg Chamberlain shared stories exhibiting the Kokoda Spirit! And then shared that spirit in a game of handball with our Year 10 young people. Thank you for your time Greg and for reminding us how important values are in the real world. To all our award recipients and to Brandon who rang the bell in celebration of his school-based sign-up, congratulations. Another successful Roof Shout.

04.01.2022 Our Year 10 Group 1 young people enjoyed an interesting excursion to Aviation Australia in Brisbane today. Information about the aviation industry and associated trades/vocations aligned to this industry gave them food for thought. Thank you to all at Aviation Australia.

03.01.2022 Reece started at the AITC 12 months ago with a dream of becoming an apprentice electrician. Andy from AJ Healy Electrical realised he needed an extra pair of hard-working hands and, after completing his Rookie year and undertaking work experience with Andy, Reece proved that he was the one for the job. Thank you for your support Andy. And to a great future Reece, you have achieved the dream!

02.01.2022 Each year, one Year 12 young person is selected to receive the Alan Kiefer scholarship presented by BUSSQ and Skylight Financial Solutions. Alan Kiefer was a financial planner with Skylight Financial Solutions from 2013 until he passed away in May of 2018. Alan was always a positive influence to those around him, living by the idea that there was always good to be found, even in the worst of situations. We are very excited to announce this year's sucessful candidates from the Gold Coast, Redlands, and Sunshine Coast campuses.

01.01.2022 Hands-on work for our young people continues as they learn valuable lessons from the FKG Group.
