25.01.2022 Take a moment to enjoy this wonderful 'being' pause with our AIYT founder Leigh Blashki. Thanks Leigh!

24.01.2022 This article from the very wise Dr. Ginger Garner, DPT, ATC makes me happy - "My first request would be that we please strike the phrase Hip Opener from our yoga vocabulary". Fabulous, thanks Ginger.

24.01.2022 Bravo to the wonderful Sarah Harry from Body Positive Australia and her fabulous Yogini students for this great story on The Project last night. Yoga offers a w...ay to find peace within ourselves, just as we are in this moment. It's not about trying to change ourselves or about fitting some socially constructed idea of what someone should 'look' like in their Yoga fancy-pants. Yogic inclusivity - I'm all for that! You can view the story on the link below. See more

24.01.2022 "Because it's all about the breath, about the breath....not restless" - go on, sing along! I love this! Yoga 101.

22.01.2022 A little Yoga humour for your day... I must say I do an awful lot of inactivity in my 'active' wear.

19.01.2022 Would you like to join Janet Lowndes for this workshop for Yoga Therapists - exploring all these interesting things? (Hosted by Yoga Australia).

19.01.2022 It's great to see this exciting research showing the continued increase in the use of Yoga as a Complementary Therapy in the USA between 2002 - 2012. Fair to say the same is probably happening here in Australia. Our Graduate Certificate in Yoga Therapy program offers the professional training required to work in this field.

19.01.2022 A little Yoga humour for your day... I must say I do an awful lot of inactivity in my 'active' wear.

18.01.2022 Fancy a bit of Neuroscience nerding-out? I love this stuff! Neuroplasticity offers us freedom from our destructive habits. AIYT Director Janet Lowndes is a member of the International Association of Clinical Neuropsychotherapy - you'll hear more of this information if you join our Graduate Certificate in Yoga Therapy.

18.01.2022 The beauty of Yoga for everyone.

18.01.2022 So exciting that neuroscience is reinforcing what the ancient Yogis understood so many years ago.

17.01.2022 This is a very powerful article - '17 people describe what it's like to have an Eating Disorder'. Trigger warning - the comments in the article may be trigger...ing for people living with an Eating Disorder. If you need assistance feel free to contact us or your own health professional team. 17.01.2022 GET TO KNOW OUR FACULTY Anahata Giri Yoga Therapist, Director, One Heart Yoga & Meditation.... "One of the things I loved most about the Yoga Therapy training, was that it gave me the skills and confidence to work with a huge range of specific needs, from insomnia, to anxiety, to sacroiliac joint issues - to name just a few. I really love the challenge of working out short programs for home practice that really empower people to work with whatever their arising issue is. I continue to be in awe of yoga and what it can offer when it is skilfully adapted to the individual. As a yoga therapist I love working with the unique needs and situation of each individual, yet held in the context of holistic principles that nurture both the arising issue or ‘part’ and the whole - the innate wholeness of each individual. The yoga therapy approach has also infused my general yoga teaching and has greatly enhanced my skill level as a yoga teacher. I now love the balance of working with groups as a yoga teacher and with individuals as a yoga therapist." Anahata Our Graduate Certificate in Yoga Therapy program is the longest running professional training program for Yoga Therapists in Australia. We have trained over 60 graduates in the 11 years since our course began. Our new program has recently been registered with Yoga Australia, the peak body representing Yoga Professionals in Australia. 17.01.2022 Congratulations to Sarah Harry from Body Positive Australia and Fat Yoga Australia for publishing her fabulous new book 'Fat Yoga'. Sarah is helping spread the word that Yoga is for ALL bodies, a message our society needs reminding of. Bravo Sarah, you go girl!

16.01.2022 Another day for Janet learning about Neuropsychotherapy and being a brain-wise therapist, with the very wise Dr Peter Rossouw. So inspired! Heaps of relevance to Yoga Therapy. I'll be sharing a lot of this information in our Graduate Certificate of Yoga Therapy next year - details of the course are on our website.

16.01.2022 Bravo to these wonderful Yogini's championing inclusivity in Yoga.

15.01.2022 GET TO KNOW OUR FACULTY GINA MACAULEY Yoga Therapist, Owner of Yogahara Bendigo.... "Yoga has been an incredible support in my life. I believe Yoga can be a fun exploration of your own body, breath and mind and through Yoga Therapy, I am able to guide people to find in themselves the support they need to connect with their own deepest nature". Gina More about Gina - http://australianyogatherapy.com.au/gina-macauley Our Graduate Certificate in Yoga Therapy program is the longest running professional training program for Yoga Therapists in Australia. 15.01.2022 ""Mind-body medicine interventions are inexpensive relative to the cost of an emergency room visit, a hospitalization, or even other complementary and alternative medicine therapies," notes the study. And in fact, research concluded that practitioners of mind-body techniques would save a whopping $2,360 annually on medical expenses."

15.01.2022 It was great to hear AIYT Faculty member Gabrielle Boswell presenting at the Yoga Australia Vic state meeting today, talking about the differences between Yoga Teaching and Yoga Therapy.

14.01.2022 We're coming your way Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne - with our Mental Health Awareness training for Yoga Teachers. Details - http://www.yogapsychology.com.au/ This is a joint program offered by the Australian Institute of Yoga Therapy and The Yoga Institute.

14.01.2022 This is a great article about the 'revolution' of tolerating (and accepting) uncertainty in the Medical profession. It's imperative that Yoga Therapists keep this in mind with a curious, exploratory perspective - we never know something 'will' help a client, but we can engage in a valuable process of co-enquiry with them.

13.01.2022 Our 2017/2018 Course Prospectus is almost ready - check out the details of our latest Newsletter for an idea of what's ahead...

13.01.2022 I highly recommend this program, delivered by Anahata Giri from One Heart Yoga & Meditation who is also one of our wonderfully talented faculty.

13.01.2022 I hope you're all enjoying some lovely rest at his time of year. Here's one of my favourite pieces by the wonderful David Whyte to remind us...

13.01.2022 Yoga community friends - check out this excellent article, an important reminder for Yoga Teachers to respect their professional Scope of Practice and not claim... to be experts in diet and nutrition. At Mind Body Well we are a team of experienced Health Professionals who can assist people in addressing their relationship with food and eating, including Accredited Practicing Dietitians. A Yoga Teacher can be highly skilled at many things, but they are not scientifically trained to provide advice about food and nutrition, and as a result can inadvertently contribute to problemating eating behaviours in their students. Please refer on. "The number of yoga studios now offering fasts and cleanses is growing and is extremely worrying. Let us please not forget the death of Kelly Parisi in 2012 at the age of twenty-one, who died suddenly during a juice cleanse recommended by the yoga studio in which she was practising. Please let us stick to what we know and are qualified to share, and let us be willing to have difficult conversations with people who appear to be struggling with these distressing and life-threatening issues."

13.01.2022 'Gentle is the new advanced'! Ohhh, there is so much to love about this clip by J Brown... I don't know where to start!

13.01.2022 We're so pleased to have had our course Registered with Yoga Australia, as meeting the standards for postgraduate training of Yoga Teachers who wish to qualify as Yoga Therapists. Course details - http://australianyogatherapy.com.au/graduate-certificate-in

12.01.2022 GET TO KNOW OUR FACULTY JANET LOWNDES AIYT Director, Yoga Therapist, Psychologist, Yoga Teacher... "Yoga Therapy offers an exciting future direction for Yoga Teachers who wish to take their place amongst the field of complementary therapy practitioners in Australia. The study of Yoga Therapy is really about turning back to the traditional teachings of Yoga to focus on the needs of the individual person considered through a wholistic lens, utilising Yoga philosophies and practices to enhance health, wellbeing and quality of life. Our Faculty offer a program which is grounded in these traditional teachings, integrated with modern scientific knowledge from the fields of human movement, biology and psychology." Janet. 10.01.2022 Check out this news update from AIYT, including some FAQ's.

10.01.2022 Loving this article in The Age with the wonderful Sarah Harry from Fat Yoga Australia. "There is not one body type that is suitable for yoga. It doesn't matter... if you can touch your toes or you can't see them! Yoga is an amazing practice it's movement, meditation, relaxation and coming home to your body. It can change you. And all bodies deserve spaces where they can move". (Sarah Harry) AMEN TO THAT! http://www.theage.com.au//meet-the-women-proving-there-is-

06.01.2022 The rise in popularity of short courses in 'Yoga Therapy' is cause for concern - thank you to AIYT founder Leigh Blashki for this wonderful article. I think these short courses demonstrate a significant lack of understanding about what Yoga Therapy really is.
