25.01.2022 Great to hear how well our First Aiders went today at the course. We have used ATI training before and they delivered well - especially in these social distancing times. They were very complimentary with regards to our School organisation. You all made Kyushin Ryu School of Jujitsu proud. Thank you. Thanks to office staff Louise and Teresa and presenter - Jason for conducting the course.

16.01.2022 As a Martial Artist and Instructor, it is a huge honour to see your students travel the long, winding road to black belt... And for me, it was with great respect and pride that I awarded my first three Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belts on Saturday afternoon under the supervision of my Instructor, Michelle Nicolini! Congratulations to Liban Akil, Matt D'Aquino and Paul Smibert! You have each traveled a unique path and achieved so much, however I am sure you will soon realise this is only the beginning! Welcome to the club and enjoy the journey ahead.
15.01.2022 Come along and enjoy a day of training while helping a great cause...
13.01.2022 Focus on the Journey! . . In Jiu Jitsu, there is always something to learn, another belt to earn or the next competition to win. And while it is important th...at you have goals to work towards and motivate you, it is actually far more beneficial to focus on the journey! . . The work that you put in every day at training, exercising to keep your body in shape and cleaning up your diet are the processes that make all the difference in journey. It is better to develop a few good habits and stick to them over the long term than try to grind for 6 or 8 weeks to prepare last minute. . . Daily effort working on the processes, making sacrifices when no one is watching, as well as developing your mindset, discipline and determination will yield tremendous results over the long term. Its the work behind the scenes that no one sees, or really know about and understand that gets you ahead... The key is staying focused, doing the work with no guarantee that you will achieve your goal and maintaining discipline, this is what separates the ordinary from the extraordinary! . . When I think about extraordinary athletes, the first event that come to mind is the Olympic Games! Imagine the discipline, sacrifices and work ethic that it take to plan your training in 4 Year cycles... And that is after you have already spent a decade or more becoming one of the best competitors in your sport. There is a lot to be learned from these great athletes, both in and out of competition. Why is even more special/crazy about the Olympics is that only the best athletes arent always the winners... It comes down to who is able to perform on the day under stress and the circumstances presented! There can be only 1 winner and I believe if the same Olympians competed a week later, more than half of the results would changes dramatically! . . Last November I got the opportunity to meet, listen to and chat with two Olympic Gold Medalists in Bruny Surin (@brunysurin ) and Steven Bradbury (@stevenbradburyofficial ) while on a Training trip to the US! Their thoughts on mindset, discipline and what it takes to achieve your potential was fascinating and a great learning experience! See more

10.01.2022 Some PCYCs made it through as per the newsletter. It is disappointing not all did. But our Kyushin Ryu School of Jujitsu Inc. holds too many PCYC Life and Diamond Life members to hold us back. Our classes at Pine Rivers PCYC are going well and are supported by the Branch Manager, Leigh. Our other six classes of Judo and Jujitsu now conducted at Zillmere PCYC as a hall hire arrangement, are developing into solid classes, keeping in mind COVID restrictions on numbers and have solid support from the Branch Managers, Adrienne and Scott. The Sandgate PCYC kids are still filtering across to Zillmere. Challenging times have been met and we will continue to support the youth in this area as per our School Strategic Plan. Newsletter makes for interesting reading.

08.01.2022 In nature, there is a word for those who stand down in the face of aggression and that word is lunch. There are times when we need to stand up and push b...ack. For every person that will do you a kind turn, there are two who will take advantage of you, if they sense weakness - or worse, if they mistake kindness for weakness. See more

07.01.2022 2019 ADCC OPEN WEIGHT BRONZE MEDAL! I never thought I would be able to claim something like that. After yesterdays performance I decided to enter the open weig...ht, which resulted in me winning 3 fights by heel hook, and one loss by RNC, gaining Bronze. All against extremely high level opponents and each over 20kgs heavier than methe response from the crowd was incredible. I will probably never experience anything like it again. I always dreamed about having a medal at ADCC, never thought it would be open weight! My whole training camp was done at home and I hope this can inspire people around the world to know that you dont need to be part of a huge team, you dont need to move overseas, you dont need to do PEDs or even weights haha (I dont), just train SMART. I want to thank everyone from Absolute MMA who helped me prepare for this event, you guys are the best, thank you to my wife Livia who is the most amazing person I know. Lastly I want to say a huge congratulations to Craig Jones, ADCC Silver medalist. We are the first 2 Australians to medal at ADCC and there will be many more to come! See more
