07.01.2022 ALPSA recently held a virtual seminar with Dr Justine Bell-James about whether the Human Rights Act 2019 (Qld) can be used as a vehicle for climate change litigation. Just this week, the ABC has reported that a human rights argument is being run against Clive Palmer's proposed Waratah mega-mine: https://www.abc.net.au//youth-activists-claim-cli/12245602. This demonstrates the importance of human rights for climate change litigation in Queensland. This litigation will be c...rucial in determining the scope of the Act. For those who are interested, we will be posting a recording of Dr Bell-James's seminar on our website soon.
