22.01.2022 When most of your yarn orders arrive together! (although it does make carrying them out of the post office to the car rather difficult when there's multiple bags) Now to turn it all into pretty things such as floor rugs and blankets. 2020 custom orders are closed but early 2021 orders are now being accepted Still waiting on a few items to come, but hopefully they will be here in the next couple of weeks.

22.01.2022 Whilst this isn't yarn or something made with yarn, it's going to make day to day running so much easier! My old faithful computer which was nearly 9 years old starting having issues, which couldn't be fixed without spending a lot of money. Which just wasn't financially viable. So lately, I've had to do everything on my phone which isn't easy when it comes to navigating the shop front or doing PayPal invoices. ... But now I have my new all in one computer so no more squinting and zooming on the phone to find the right box to input information to

18.01.2022 With the mandatory enforcement of wearing masks in metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire, it's caused a rush on masks. I'm getting an increasing number of requests for crochet masks again. I said it back in March and I will repeat it here. I will NOT be making these now or ever. ... Crochet masks do not have the required level of protection needed to reduce your risk of catching viruses and other pathogens. The Victorian DHHS has guidelines on what materials are suitable for home made masks if you are unable to source the disposable surgical masks. Please do not get cranky with me because I will not make a crochet mask for you. It is simply not practical or safe.

17.01.2022 This photo is 5 years old. Going back to before this page was even started in late 2015. It's my first ripple blanket (and first blanket I'd successfully finished) It dawned on me earlier today that next month In The Loop is FIVE!... I remember back when I started the page just for fun thinking it would never be anything big. Well nearly 5 years later, over 5000 followers and some crazy number of completed items all over the world, this is it! I'll tally up just how many items I've made and sold over the years and I'm thinking of a give away to celebrate Who'd be in that?

16.01.2022 Today marks 5 A.M.A.Z.I.N.G years since I created this page. In that 5 years, I have created and sold over 450 cherished items that are all over the world, but many have remained here in Australia. I’ll admit, it hasn’t been an easy 5 years. I’ve had to find my feet running a small business, ensure the items I was making were to the highest standard, make items that stand out and are wanted and in amongst all that I’ve done many other things.... I’ve started and finished a diploma, began working as a nurse, started a bachelor’s degree, started a Facebook group, mentored other small business owners, moved house, dealt with the devastating blow of losing my Mum all while dealing with everyday life. Many wonder how I manage to work, study and run a small business. In The Loop was born out of a love and passion to create quality, affordable items. Because of this love and passion, I make the time for it. My social life has probably suffered as a result, but this year especially, it’s been a sanity saver! Back in 2015 when I started this page, I never thought or could have dreamed it would become this big! But it’s taught me so much about myself and I’ve met some truly wonderful people and made new friends. Do I plan to be around in another 5 years? Heck yes, partly cause the list of things I want to make is probably that long!! But as long as demand is there, I will keep buying insane amounts of yarn and making pretty things with it. I just can’t put into words how truly grateful and appreciative I am for everyone’s continued love and support for handmade.

16.01.2022 Squishy mail arrived today! This is just a few of the colours I've ordered in to do a big floor rug restock! Aiming to have the restock ready by the beginning of August so keep an eye out. In the mean time there are a few rugs ready to go on my Love Australian Handmade shop front.

16.01.2022 This pretty well sums up how I'm feeling after 5 weeks of our second lockdown. I'm sure most Victorians feel the same, as much as we know we can't drop the ball now, we just want a little something back! The first lockdown was hard, this one has been harder. And it has affected my mental health a bit. I've had days where I've struggled to adult and do what needs doing, but also I've had days where I haven't wanted to touch my crochet. Those who know me would know that's not... a common thing. I usually crochet every spare moment I get. I am still working away on orders but at my own pace. If I don't want to crochet, I don't because otherwise it becomes a chore and then I'll loose my love for it which I don't want to happen. Hopefully as things ease, the stress will as well so everyone can get back to normal, whatever that might be now. Thank you to everyone for your continued support. It means so much

15.01.2022 Each year, Bendigo Woollen Mills have a limited cotton release with some utterly A.M.A.Z.I.N.G colours and this year is no different. Except they were sneaky and dropped them on the website without telling us! No doubt an email will go out soon but thanks to a couple of savvy spotters, I've already snapped up a whole pile of luscious colours! I've managed to get violet, mint, ice blue and hot pink (which were colours from last year's release) and I think they may become per...manent colours, and the two new colours are lilac and pretty pink (I think these will be limited production runs) ANNND they brought back black! Black was dropped a couple of years ago which was sad as it was perfect for monochrome blankets or to give a dark background for other colours. As I am fully booked for the rest of this year, all these new colours won't be seen in completed items till 2021. But if something in particular catches your eye feel free to message as I already have several orders into next year!

14.01.2022 During the peak of the lock down, it was very difficult to get the quality acrylic yarn I use for my blankets and floor rugs. The supplier is based in the UK and the lack of flights combined with Australia Post being overwhelmed with parcels, I was waiting up to 8 weeks at times. The yarn supplier has had to increase their postage costs and this means a small price increase on all items using acrylic yarn. ... Anyone who has an outstanding order and has paid, or has a quote issued within the last 7 days is not affected by the price increase, cotton and wool items are also not affected as I source that yarn locally from the mill in Bendigo. Also, the 7 floor rugs currently in stock on my shop front are not affected by this increase, so if you'd like to beat the rise check out what's available now ^_^

I've not made many of them, purely because other styles are more popular, but this divine pastel rainbow and white combination has proven popular over the last few years Maybe I need to get another one made up and also play around with some new colours. ... 07.01.2022 As many would have seen, Melbourne is now in stage 4 lockdown due to the pandemic and regional Victoria is going back into stage 3 from midnight on Wednesday. I am based in regional Victoria, and it was announced today that post offices were not going to close. But...... As an aged care nurse, I have a larger responsibility beyond my own health and that of my family. I work closely caring for some of the most vulnerable people in our community. To limit my risk and that of passing on this virus, I will only be visiting the post office once per week to send out orders and collect incoming yarn I have ordered in. There will be no set day in the week, as it will work around my working week. As I complete orders, I will advise customers and also inform them exactly when their item will go in the mail. Please understand that this pandemic is creating a unique and challenging role.

06.01.2022 I've received a rather aggressive message today and it was totally uncalled for. The message began with wild ranting about how irresponsible Victoria has been during the latest COVID-19 outbreak. The biggest majority of Victorian's ARE doing the right thing. But as this virus has shown, it only takes a few to start off a new cluster. It then became a targeted, personal attack. I apparently should be ashamed to be risking customers and their families by selling and sending i...tems because the virus can survive on surfaces for some time. While the last part is correct, the virus is surviving on surfaces, I live 250km from metropolitan Melbourne where stage 3 stay at home restrictions were implemented again this week. Where I live has not had a positive case in 3 months. If I had any doubt even for a split second I had possibly contracted the virus or even been a close contact to a confirmed case, I would NOT work on any orders until it was proven otherwise. If you don't want to buy from me purely because of the state I reside in, that's your choice as the consumer. But I will not be closing down my business unless it becomes required by the government or if I am exposed/become unwell. Please stop and think before launching into someone, the person you are targeting is a real person.

02.01.2022 "Me & Dolly" You've probably seen Mummy & Me before, so this is a different take! This beautiful large crochet blanket is going to a little girl and she has a matching blanket for her dolly as well! The beautiful vintage pattern came up stunning in pure cotton. I varied the pattern slightly to give a checkered look. ... I've already had several enquiries on these and it's not just limited to this particular pattern. All the patterns I use can be made into a matching set. 2020 orders are closed but 2021 orders are being taken for March/April.
