23.01.2022 On this date 40 years ago...

23.01.2022 Allan Grice and Bob Morris together at Bathurst in a Holden Commodore in 1980 that was the plan for this Group C touring car superteam. It was some plan, but the Grice/Morris Holden superteam fell apart half way through the year, with Morris switching to Ford and Grice continuing with the Commodore at Bathurst before he made a switch of his own, to BMW. Now, 40 years after it debuted alongside Peter Brocks new HDT Commodore VB at Symmons Plains the world racing debut for the Holden Commodore the Grice/Morris machine has resurfaced after a long spell in the wilderness, now returned to 1980 Bathurst 1000 trim. Read the full and exclusive story of this historic racing Holden in the latest issue of Australian MUSCLE CAR magazine - out now.

23.01.2022 At Bathurst 40 years ago this car and its drivers just kept going around and around... turn up the volume to hear this unsung character's reaction to seeing his old car again! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnceqKYuuRU&t=2s

23.01.2022 Over 90 percent of the images seen in our 50-page coverage of Bathurst 1979 in the new issue are previously unpublished. Many came from spectator Richards Johns, to whom we are indebted.

23.01.2022 Last chance saloon! AMC's Disrupter issue is in its last days. New issue coming. Any comments along the lines of "But a Mazda RX7 is not a saloon" will be treated with the appropriate disdain.

22.01.2022 Australian MUSCLE CAR magazine this issue celebrates the 50th anniversary of the near-forgotten VG Pacer. With its wailing 245 Hemi six engine, the Pacer was a colourful addition to the early ‘70s Australian performance sedan scene we salute the big, boxy VG-model Val as it hits the half century.

21.01.2022 Vehicles in the 2019 Repco Retrial will have their end of day control on Friday 30 August at the National Motor Racing Museum, Bathurst with cars arriving from 4 pm, and assembling at McPhillamy Park at 6 am to depart from 6.30. The event finishes on Sunday 1 September at Melbourne Showgrounds as per the original event, with cars around 12 pm.

18.01.2022 Who's your favourite Bathurst privateer? AMC's new fave is Ralph Radburn. What a character! We met him the day we shot the newly-restored A9X he drove to third place in 1979. His reaction to seeing his old car is priceless and captured in our 2min 34sec video found elsewhere on this page.

18.01.2022 It's amazing what old workhorses from motorsport's glory days are still out there.

18.01.2022 Theres never been a Bathurst classic anything like the 79 Great Race and thats why Australian Muscle Car Magazine has dedicated 50 pages of its latest issue to that years Hardie-Ferodo 1000. There's over 100 previously unpublished images from that year's race in the mag. 16.01.2022 It's 50 years since GM-H turned its back on reigning Bathurst winner Bruce McPhee ahead of the '69 HF 500. It's a baffling snub that very nearly bit Holden on the bum. The latest AMC issue examines both McPhee's '69 Bathurst campaign and his former GT-HO Falcon's whereabouts today. Ford tragics will love the shots of the car's life post Bathurst. And one day this car will be back on the road.

15.01.2022 Re-creating the Mr Juicy logo was last of the many challenges the restorer of this Torana faced in bringing it back to how it looked when it starred at Bathurst in '79. The story of its life and resto is told in the latest issue of AMC.

14.01.2022 Some well deserved recognition for AMC magazine researcher, helper and all round good guy Geoff Wood here. Geoff has restored and preserved the Adelaide parklands circuit model shown here. Well worth a read for those who missed our story in AMC magazine on the same topic a couple of years ago.

13.01.2022 Who misses the days when gun full-timers like Moffat not only had to contend with other pros doing the full schedule, but local track specialists, too? Here's a shot we weren't able to squeeze into our 22-page story on Moffat's Mazda era in the current issue. It shows the Sydney track specialists Barry Jones and Terry Shiel keeping Moff honest at Oran Park in 1982. These guys really added some interest to proceedings especially at Amaroo.

13.01.2022 Not much video or photographic evidence exists of Peter Brock’s ’71 Macau escapade but after an all-nighter on the internet we found this footage from the 1972 Japanese motor racing movie ‘Hairpin Circus’. Some of the movie’s racing scenes were shot at the ’71 Macau meeting, including the touring car races which shows Brock’s HDT Torana XU-1 and Allan Moffat’s Falcon GT-HO in action. As the clip shows, Moffat had a tough time the way the big Falcon zigged and zagged its way off the track and down the escape road, for a split second it looked like there wasn't going to be a movie!

12.01.2022 When you sit back and analyse Geoff Brabham's career, he's had an incredible amount of success in some seriously cool and diverse cars. Geoff is the latest Muscle Man 'profilee' in the newly-released issue of AMC.

10.01.2022 Holy moly! Bathurst '79 A9X resurfaces. Former owner/driver checks it out. Teaser clip for Australian Muscle Car magazine issue #111, on sale September 5, 2019.

10.01.2022 Ralph Radburn's reaction to seeing his old Bathurst A9X is priceless. Promo video for Australian Muscle Car magazine issue 111.

09.01.2022 Another day done, more dirt roads.

08.01.2022 It was unloved, almost completely unsuccessful, and fancied by almost no one heading into the 1990 Bathurst 1000. Yet somehow Holden won with its Commodore VL ‘Walkinshaw’ racer, the Aussie V8 getting up against a huge field of lighter, yet more powerful turbocars. This issue of Australian MUSCLE CAR looks back at what many say is the greatest Bathurst victory of all time, the best ever Holden win on the Mountain.

08.01.2022 What better day than the 40th anniversary of Brock's six-lap victory to pick up our celebration of Bathurst '79's cars, characters and colour. All 52 pages of it! Over 100 previously unpublished photos. Issue 111 is on sale now.

08.01.2022 Anyone keen on being a bit disruptive? You don't have to be Mr Moffat circa 1980 type disruptive, but maybe you feel like showing some hairy V8 types what a nim...ble 13B PP can do... Trust me, it is very enjoyable ;) Grab a copy of the latest Australian Muscle Car Magazine and get a taste of what all this RX7 stuff, is all about http://www.ecuriebowden.com.au/1984-group-c-mazda-rx7 See more

07.01.2022 Who, what, where and when? Now, for car #43 its easy-peasy, but tell us the driver of the other car? And what event? Where? When? Good luck finding a copy of our current Disrupter issue if you haven't got it already. It's on sale for one more week.

07.01.2022 Phil Walmsley is our ace correspondent/participant on the 2019 Repco Retrial, which celebrates the 40th anniversary of the original event. He's sent through this pic of Barry Ferguson, who placed 2nd for the HDT in 1979, and who is once again doing a lap, in the SAME car from 1979. Chocolate Ruffle Pass was one of the notorious stages in 1979 and this pic shows Barry recounting his memories when the event visited the site. Phil is filing a report for AMC #112.

07.01.2022 Was it a mistake for Holden to switch to the LC model Torana GTR XU-1 for the 1970 Bathurst 500? Might it have been better off sticking with the tried and proven Monaro? This issue of Australian MUSCLE CAR magazine dusts off the De Lorean and takes a trip back in time to see how things might have played out on the Mountain 50 years ago, had the Falcon GT-HO’s opponent been the HG-model Monaro GTS 350 rather than the six-cylinder XU-1.

06.01.2022 Our latest profilee Sue Ransom is pictured but can you name the other ladies? You'll love our 'Ransom Notes' Muscle Woman story in the latest issue. Sue achieved some amazing things in racing.

06.01.2022 "Slip slidin' away. Slip slidin' a-w-a-a-a-a-a-y. You know the nearer your destination, the more you're slip slidin' away " Grab a copy of AMC issue 110 as it's now in runout.

05.01.2022 It was the first Series Production Torana XU-1 Peter Brock ever raced and it was also the first car Brock raced in international competition. The Macau Grand Prix meeting in 1971 would be the last race start for this Holden Dealer Team Torana, but it survived its Far East adventure and indeed survives to this day. Australian MUSCLE CAR this issue has the full story of Brocky’s early ‘70s oriental affair and this pioneering HDT machine.

05.01.2022 Its been caught in cyclones, got hit by a train, sustained heavy damage in a rollover in the desert and suffered years of general neglect and yet somehow it survives today. The amazing story of this Ford Falcon GT-HO Phase III including its racing history and how it almost but not quite got a start in the 1972 Bathurst 500 is told in the latest issue of Australian Muscle Car mag, on sale now. Click on the link to learn more about what's in the latest mag. https://www.musclecarmag.com.au//ford-falcon-phase-iii-ba/

04.01.2022 Riddle me this, Batman: When is a showcar not just a showcar? When it is a genuine VN Commodore Group A SS (one of two made in white), that did many years of promo duties at racetracks and even through the Sydney Harbour Tunnel. Full story in latest issue of AMC.

03.01.2022 Good call or bad call? "Ford teams never had a more limp-wristed attack on the Bathurst classic than in 1979." We examine the Ford team disasters in '79 in our latest issue. Here's a shot that didn't make the cut for our Bathurst 1979 issue. (Image courtesy Richards Johns)

03.01.2022 The latest issue of Australian MUSCLE CAR magazine, on sale now, celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Falcon GT-HO Phase II featuring the surviving road test model from 1970! This was the car loaned out by Ford to motoring journalists so they could put their impressions of the Blue Ovals 1970 Bathurst challenger in print in newspapers and magazines. After the Falcon had been given a thorough flogging by our esteemed press corp, it passed through a series of private owners, most of whom remained oblivious to its star-car past. Remarkably it survives today, unmolested and unrestored the car that adorns the cover of this issue of Australian MUSCLE CAR is more or less exactly as it was when it first graced the covers of motoring magazines 50 years ago!

02.01.2022 Here's the opening spread for our 'Nice and Juicy' yarn in the latest issue! How cool is the old workshop where the Radburn/Smith Torana was restored and our photoshoot took place. Check out the video elsewhere on our FB page.
