22.01.2022 Did you know five out of Queensland’s six biggest transport infrastructure projects have been awarded to foreign-owned construction companies in the past five years? These projects worth nearly $9 billion show the extent of foreign domination of the local construction industry. Australian Owned Contractors believes this needs to change and we need your support to show politicians that Queensland should be built by Queenslanders. ... 22.01.2022 Sign the petition! Australian Owned Contractors (AOC) welcomes news from the Morrison Government that it will allocate $7.5 billion for national infrastructure projects in tonight’s Federal Budget. It’s never been more important to look at the vital role construction plays in supporting jobs, economic growth, and opportunities for Australian workers and companies. ... Unfortunately, all major construction companies in Australia are now foreign-owned. AOC and It’s members are fighting to stop millions of dollars in profits, taxes, and IP flowing overseas, rather than staying in Australia with Australian-owned companies. Governments across Australia are bundling projects together in mega-contracts so that only the foreign multinationals are able to take on sole financial risk. Australian owned companies are being locked out. Sign our petition for change - www.letusbuild.com.au

22.01.2022 "This is a major Government policy failure." Yesterday Independent Senator Rex Patrick highlighted Australian Owned Contractors' campaign to increase the participation of Australian contractors in the head contracts of major public infrastructure projects. Right now, 95% of Australia's major public infrastructure projects are delivered by foreign owned contractors.

21.01.2022 AOC’s Let Us Build Queensland campaign is hitting home with local politicians. Queensland’s Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey told media before the dissolution of Parliament that Government has listened to industry who told us they wanted to break up larger infrastructure projects so more mid-tier firms can compete. This followed Opposition Leader Deb Frecklington’s commitment to giving preference to Queensland companies with tenders scaled to allow local small and medium-...sized businesses to bid on their $33bn Bruce Highway (Cairns to Gympie) announcement. It’s positive progress but we need to keep Australia’s civil construction industry top of mind for Queensland MPs and ensure they commit to further reform. Let’s ensure Australian companies building Australian projects becomes the norm and not the exception sign the petition today: (www.letusbuild.com.au). 15.01.2022 An analysis of 20 major public infrastructure projects awarded over the last 5 years shows $48 billion of the $50 billion spend went to overseas owned companies.

12.01.2022 Why don't Australian governments trust Australian companies?

12.01.2022 Australian Rail Track Company de-rails Australian contractors on the Port Botany rail line duplication. Among the three companies shortlisted, none are Australian owned contractors. Another missed opportunity by Australian Governments and their agencies like ARTC to give Aussie contractors more opportunities to deliver these major public infrastructure projects.

11.01.2022 Have Australian Governments lost faith in the Australian construction industry?

09.01.2022 Did you know 95% of Australia’s largest public infrastructure projects are delivered by foreign owned contractors? Australian owned mid-tier contractors have the physical and technical capacity to play a significant role in building public infrastructure but are being locked out of the market. Governments across Australia need to look at ways to increase competition and support the growth, capability and sustainability of the local mid-tier construction sector....
