14.01.2022 Inspiration through a Little Ray of Sunshine - introducing Ren Theelen I had a little chuckle to myself as Ren started his email with "G'day Easy Way"! I wonder how many of you out there mimic me, after having watched a few of my videos :)... Ren has been interested in photography most of his life, from a young age. Slowly progressing from his first small fixed lens toy camera to the big guns - his full frame Nikon DSLR and too much stuff (I am sure there are a few of us out there who can relate to that!). Ren never really felt that he achieved much along the way and in the last couple of years, has had more time to devote to his art. Ren has completed the Essentials Workflow courses, part of the Bohemian Creative courses, the Advanced Composition course and regularly watches the YouTube Live sessions. "Trying to teach myself Lightroom and Photoshop with countless hours online and YouTube, I finally came across Adam's channel. Adam has inspired me to be more creative and look into the image more deeply and actually feel the scene in front of me." The image below was taken from my back verandah on a rainy winter's day, I was hoping for more fog but the heavy rain did a good job. We have many kangaroos in our area and when it rains they look so sad and wet, either huddling together or seeking some sort of shelter. So I captured an image to hopefully show this. During post processing the idea came to me (influenced by Adam) to create a ray of sunshine, showing the rain will eventually give way to finer weather." The image was processed in Photoshop using some of Adam's techniques such as painting with sunlight, blending in colour fills, curves and dodge and burn layers. "I still have a long way to go and with the inspiration Easy Way Photography has given me, the journey will be exciting and pleasant. Thank you Adam!" Ren has shared his original capture (below) and edited image (above). What an incredible difference it makes to the image. Great work Ren!
