20.01.2022 Pakistan protests - It was difficult at times being an Australian photojournalist in Pakistan. #photojournalism #australianphotographer https://www.instagram.com/p/BepwV-xBy4D/
19.01.2022 I was on photo assignment in war-torn Southern Sudan and a long way from the comforts and safety of Brisbane, Australia when I made this photo of a local Dinka man using a cast net on the Lol River. Fishing is not a pass time but part of their subsistence living. They fish to survive the intense summer droughts that end in the "hunger period" when crops no longer grow and rivers stop flowing before the winter rains appear and to create an inland sea over the flood plains. A land of extreme climate change from season to season!! #photojournalism #documentaryphotography #travelphotography #africa #travel countryhttps://www.johnwilsonphotographer.com.au/index.php/blog/photojournalism/40-fish-tales-south-sudan

08.01.2022 About 6 years after covering the liberation of East Timor by Australian defence forces I was back in Dili on a Time magazine assignment documenting fierce battles between rival factions of the East Timorese defence force and police forces. I came under gunfire on several occasions and almost died of hypothermia after having made it across battle lines in the mountains. #australianphotojournalist #documentaryphotography https://www.johnwilsonphotographer.com.au//34-east-timor-t
07.01.2022 I was one of the first photojournalists on the ground in Sri Lanka just after the boxing day tsunami in 2004. It was surreal to leave the comfort of my place Queensland and land in a place in total chaos and disarray with immense human tragedy and suffering. Follow the link to read some of my journal notes about this assignment and see photos that were published worldwide to tell the tragic story. #photojournalists #documentaryphotographer #newsphotography https://www.johnwilsonphotographer.com.au//38-sri-lanka-ts
06.01.2022 Working in Papua New Guinea as a photojournalist has its challenges. This assignment had its fair share but all the hard work paid off with some great photography produced. Also read some Papua New Guinea travel tips for the adventurous traveler. #photojournalism #documentaryphotography #nikon https://www.johnwilsonphotographer.com.au//37-behind-bars-
