As our Wildlife company continues to expand we currently looking to add two more members to our team.... Venomous snake demonstrator- Must have experience with handling Australian venomous snakes, passionate about wildlife education, be a confident public speaker who can learn a script, hold a manual car license and willing to travel. Other required duties include; animal attending, completing checklists, erecting displays and staff supervision. We travel Australia wide and get the chance to see many beautiful sights and while doing something very exciting/rewarding. Pay starts at $300/8hour day plus bonuses which can be upto $400/day. That’s correct upto $700/day playing with snakes. There is also travel allowance allocated for trips away. Most of our work is in southeast Qld so looking for someone based on or around the Gold Coast. Demonstrator assistant- A suitable applicant would have knowledge about most Australian species. Be able to learn stills quickly and eager to start venomous snake training. Assist with husbandry duties, setting public speaking. Able to work weekends Pay starts at $25/hour plus bonuses (usually $50/day) fantastic opportunity to learn from experienced reptile handlers. The Basic Handling Course is a one day program designed to teach students the skills required to engage in Damage Mitigation activities, covering topics such as Non-contact and contact handling techniques, correct use of handling equipment, snake behaviour, snake venom composition and basic functions, snake-bite first-ai...d and management. The Advanced Venomous Snake Handling and Husbandry Course is a two day program designed to teach students the skills to handle and adequately house and maintain venomous reptiles. Day 1 consisting of the basic format. Day 2 involves advanced handling techniques and husbandry skills (housing, feeding techniques, sexing techniques, identifying issues and assessing health, treating common ailments etc.). Upon completion each student receives a certificate, two stat decs (or references), snake-bite first-aid kit and a summarized copy of the curriculum for future reference. It’s the Western Plains Taipan (Oxyuranus temporalis) which was only discovered and prescribed as a new species in recent years. What an exciting find. 01.01.2022 Me and Chris get such a kick out of running the venomous snake course. At the end of the day the group leaves with more knowledge and improved handling techniques, new friendships and a burst of motivation for their professional herpetological career. Watching the excitement on everyone’s face when they complete the course and receive their certificate is a real highlight for us both. if you want to take part our next course it runs on the 18th December.
