22.01.2022 Paralysis ticks are a common discussion topic during the warmer months. While they're hazardous for humans, they're deadly for our dogs, so it's important to keep our Search & Rescue Dogs protected throughout the year. With the bush areas our dogs are currently searching in, protection against ticks and fleas is extremely important to us.... Bravecto AU generously sponsor our dogs with long-lasting protection against paralysis ticks, fleas and more. Prevention is always better than cure: www.bravecto.com.au #bravectoau #fleas #paralysisticks #dogs #chew

21.01.2022 Today is R U OK Day... Please reach out if you need to 2020 has been a challenging year for everyone and circumstances have made it even more important for us all to stay connected and, for those who are able, be willing to support those around us. ... If you feel like something’s not quite the same with someone you know there’s something going on in their life or you notice a change in what they’re saying or doing - trust that gut instinct and take the time to ask them Are you OK? If someone says they’re not OK, make time to listen, encourage action and check in. That conversation could change, or even save, their life. Together we're helping create a world where we're all connected and are protected from suicide by encouraging people to reach out and ask, "Are you OK?" long before someone reaches crisis point and helping them access appropriate support as soon as possible. So, R U OK?

18.01.2022 Having the ability to train our dogs in a number of different locations is imperative to teaching the dogs their job of Search & Rescue in any environment. Different smells, sounds and distractions can be difficult to ignore but all of our dogs have done a fantastic job over the last two weeks. We would like to thank Smart Recycling & Mornington Peninsula Pony Club for their support by allowing us to train our dogs on their grounds.

15.01.2022 Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads out there.

13.01.2022 Today we pay tribute to all the dogs and handlers deployed to the tragedy of 9/11 and to all the emergency workers involved in the rescue and recovery mission. Within hours of the Sept. 11 attacks, thousands of rescue workers from across America deployed to ground zero to help in the search and rescue efforts. Joining the endeavor, were dogs specially trained in search and rescue, police work, therapy and comfort. It is estimated that more than 300 dogs took part in the searc...h, rescue and recovery efforts at Ground Zero. Search and rescue dogs (SAR) specialise in disaster response skills. Trained to search and detect the scent of living humans, their mission was to find survivors buried in the rubble. The last living person rescued from Ground Zero 27 hours after the collapse was found by one of these search and rescue dogs. As the days went on, rescue and recovery workers soon realized the chance of finding survivors was slim, with rescue operations turning to a recovery mission and cadaver dogs, trained to find human remains, also on the scene. Working alongside their handlers, the four-legged heroes worked tirelessly climbing huge piles of debris while fires still smoldered. The search for signs of life or human remains was mentally and physically taxing on the dogs, as the search dogs began to get discouraged and lose their drive to search. Aware of the importance of morale in these dogs and to keep their motivation high, their handlers would stage a mock find so the dog could feel successful. Despite the danger and the long days and nights, these canines put their lives on the line for us. The spirit and stories of these heroic dogs live on. #westandwithyou

10.01.2022 Today is International Dog Day! International Dog Day honors family dogs and dogs that work selflessly to save lives, keep us safe and bring comfort. Dogs put their lives on the line every day - protecting our families and homes, for their law enforcement partner, for their blind companion, for the disabled, for our freedom and safety by detecting bombs and drugs and helping to locate and rescue victims of accidents and tragedy. We would like to thank all of our K9’s here at ...ASAR-K9 who work tirelessly to achieve success in Search & Rescue! #Internationaldogday

07.01.2022 Such a great night - Thank you for attending! We are excited about future collaborations with the SES and sharing the vision of #WeWorkAsOne

05.01.2022 One of the biggest obstacles our Search Dogs face are distractions! We need to make sure that we have proofed them off of as many distractions as possible including animals such as horses, chickens, rabbits, cows etc! Today we had an amazing opportunity to train our dogs on a property that had all of these things... Could we get our dogs to replicate the great work they have been doing in a new environment with multiple distractions, some they have never encountered? The answer is Yes! K9 Luna, K9 Nash, K9 Poppie & K9 Willow did an amazing job today, working through a new environment with so many new smells and unpredictable wild animals running around. We would like to thank Leanne O'brien for allowing our team the opportunity to train on her property and giving us access to her animals to help the proofing process. Your support is greatly appreciated

05.01.2022 Have you ever wondered what happens when our Search Dogs find a missing person? How do they let their handler know? K9 Nash is training the stay and bark alert. Once he locates the missing person, he will stay and bark until he is told yes by his handler at which point he will get his favourite reward, a ball on a rope!

05.01.2022 How did you go with our who’s who? If you guessed that photo A is K9 Gibson and photo B is K9 Nash then congratulations you’re correct! These boys are brothers at heart and often get mistaken for one another... but surprisingly K9 Gibson is a Border Collie x Lab x Cattle dog and K9 Nash is a Koolie
