22.01.2022 Have been having chats with our AFC representative in Cambodia today. Things are very sad, massive outbreak of Covid. Phnom Penh has been closed and people have been sent back to their villages. This has caused large community outbreaks in most villiages especially close to our school. The school will remain closed till 2022 sadly. However the online teaching our wonderful team are providing will continue but for a smaller number of children. Thanks to everyone for their contributions to keep the teachers employed and children getting educated.

19.01.2022 Our Marjorie Project teachers met two weeks ago to discuss how they could continue to support the children’s learning through this difficult time in Cambodia. While number of COVID-19 cases have not been released in the third world country, we know they are very high, and people are staying in their homes to avoid contracting it. Our teachers have decided to visit the families who are well and showing no signs of illness to do some work with each child at home and set homew...ork activities according to their individual needs. Because our students come from poorer families they are not in a position to do any online schooling and our teachers felt it was important to provide them with this one-on-one learning experience to keep their minds active and offer a healthy distraction from COVID-19. They are truly an amazing faculty and we sincerely appreciate their dedication to the students. If you would like to donate to help us continue providing underprivileged children with FREE English education you can do so through the link. See more

18.01.2022 We love seeing how much the children’s conversational English has improved. And we love even more seeing how much they enjoy themselves as they learn.

11.01.2022 The figures are inthe recent Turner Golf Day on the Gold Coast raised an incredible $961 for our Marjorie Project in Kampot! That will provide English lessons to approximately 200 students for nearly three months! So we sincerel...y thank the players for participating and the Golf Day organisers and volunteers from the bottom of our hearts. 09.01.2022 Sreymey is a 4 year old girl living in Kampot, southern Cambodia. She is an only child and lives with her parents in a shanty close to the railway. Sreymey’s mother works as a dishhand at a noodle shop and her father travels far and wide taking work wherever he can to provide for his family. They are very poor and have no electricity or running water. Sreymey attends the local primary school where she receives a very basic education as her family cannot afford to send her to ...a school that teaches English. Her job prospects with this level of education would be very limited, low paying, possibly unsafe or worse. Many end up on the streets involved with crime rings and never even have the chance to live the life they deserve. When Sreymey’s parents found out about the Marjorie Project’s FREE English classes for underprivileged children they applied and she was accepted and welcomed into the program. Sreymey has been learning conversational English which will provide her with skills to work in the growing tourism industry. Employment in tourism is generally consistent, safe and pays fairly. There is also potential for career advancement, something she would only have dreamed of before. 02.01.2022 The global COVID-19 pandemic has reached our Marjorie Project in Kampot Cambodia and the school has closed until this passes. With your help we hope to be able to continue to pay our teachers, even a portion of their wage, so they can buy basic essentials for their families to get through this. We would also like to supply some hygiene products for the children, teachers and the school to give it a thorough cleaning before it reopens. We know everyone is concerned about making ends meet for their own family during this health crisis, but even if you can spare $5 it really will help.
