25.01.2022 You may not be able to read the full article but the headline is enough. Such a sad state of affairs when Facebook who tout community fairness is being so non-inclusive to those who feed the world.
22.01.2022 A stunning photo from Shepherds Bounty. A definite Christmas card prospect.
15.01.2022 It's a great start to the New Year. Let's hope everything goes smoothly and all States can follow suit.
14.01.2022 Sheep grazing the White House lawns was not an unusual sight. There have been both Shropshires and Shetlands. President Woodrow Wilson bought a flock of Shropshire sheep, lead by an ornery ram called Old Ike, who was notorious for butting anyone and everyone he could find and chewing tobacco. He eventually died of old age and was chewing tobacco as he died. More information on the White House sheep can be found in the link. http://www.thehistoryblog.com/archives/30131
12.01.2022 It's that time of year when I do the census for the Heritage and Rare sheep breeds and things are not looking great for some of our breeds. As always, it is hard to get the full picture just comparing last year to this year, as sometimes, people forget to get their Annual Returns in on time, so the numbers can be a little inaccurate. I have added an extra column from when I took the first census back in 2007, so you can see how the numbers have changed over the thirteen years.... Some have decreased considerably and some have decreased since last year too. Once the breed has "recovered" to a stage that puts it off the Conservation list, it is still monitored and you can see why with the Hampshire Down. Even though they are recovering, they are down in number from last year. The Finnsheep are showing a 0 number, not because there are none here, but because none are registered, and we can only count the registered breeding ewes, as these are the only ones whose pedigrees are known. These figures show the numbers of registered breeding ewes, followed by the number of Flocks of that particular breed. All of the Heritage breeds are listed with the exception of the Southdown as it is very healthy in number. Well done to the breeders whose numbers are up on last year and congratulations to all the breeders who are keeping these rare breeds going against all the odds. They are all beautiful breeds and the genetic diversity they bring may be immeasurable in the long run. See more

06.01.2022 What a way to showcase wool! We need this Class at our Shows. It would be an absolute show stopper at the Australian Sheep and Wool Show!
