21.01.2022 BREAKING NEWS! Statement from Hotham and Falls Creek. Due to the Stage 3 COVID-19 restrictions for the state of Victoria and the border closure with NSW, we... have made the difficult decision to suspend lift operations at Hotham and Falls Creek, effective Thursday, 9 July through at least 19 August. We recognise the impact this has on our guests, employees and communities and did not make this decision lightly. However, we are focused first and foremost on health and safety, following local health guidelines and doing our part to support efforts across Victoria to address the recent rise in coronavirus cases. We will continue to assess the situation, follow the guidelines of the state health authorities in evaluating if it is advisable or feasible to reopen either resort this season. Perisher remains open and is unaffected by this decision. All lift ticket, lesson and rental reservations at Hotham and Falls Creek will be refunded with no requirement for guests to contact us. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to navigate through this incredibly challenging time.

16.01.2022 With both NSW Ski Resorts open this weekend, please take care on the roads. Alpine roads can be treacherous even when no snow is on the road. This mornings dri...ve up had numerous sections with heavy black ice which can catch out even experienced drivers and cars that have AWD or 4x4... Take breaks, prepare both you, and your car for all conditions. Pack chains, take your time and make sure you get to and from your destination safely. As a friendly reminder, Police will be enforcing chain complience, speed checks and conducting RBT/RDT throughout the entire season, enjoy, but dont overdo.....

CHARLOTTE PASS SNOW RESORT ANNOUNCES GUTHRIES CHAIRLIFT Charlotte Pass Snow Resort has today signed a contract with D...oppelmayr Australia for the purchase and installation of a chairlift to Mt Guthrie at Charlotte Pass. 11.01.2022 Due to the continued COVID-19 health crisis and the introduction of new restrictions by the Victorian Government, we have made the decision to not reopen our li...ft operations at Falls Creek for Spring skiing and snowboarding. On 9 July, we made the decision to suspend operations at Falls Creek in support of the efforts by public health officials to address the growing challenge of COVID-19 in the region, and out of concern for the health and safety of our employees, guests and community. It was a difficult decision which has unfortunately been reinforced by the worsening COVID-19 trends and the declaration of a State of Disaster in Victoria until 13 September. We are disappointed to mark the end of the season this way and extend our gratitude to our employees and the businesses in our communities who worked so hard to open this winter. To our loyal guests: Thank you for your patience and understanding during these challenging times. We look forward to welcoming you back to our resorts for the 2021 season. 06.01.2022 NSW Police are urging the community to have a plan and stay Snow Safe as the 2020 ski season commences next week. The official NSW snow season begins next Mon...day (22 June 2020), with ski resorts opening throughout the week and enacting their COVIDsafe plans. Additional police will be deployed to the Snowy Mountains region from across the state as part of the high-visibility police operation. Visitors can expect to see officers from General Duties, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, Southern Region Enforcement Squad, licensing police and other specialist officers including trained Alpine Operators throughout the season. Regional NSW Field Operations, Deputy Commissioner Gary Worboys APM, said visitors to the area can expect to see a different kind of snow season in 2020. The population of our snowfields and surrounding towns increases exponentially during winter, and for local police, community safety is always the number one priority, Deputy Commissioner Worboys said. This year we have the added complexities of COVID-19, and we are working closely with the ski resorts and our partner agencies to ensure the safety of the community. Police will continue to patrol these areas to ensure compliance and we ask the public to continue to adhere to restrictions and ensure they observe physical distancing guidelines. Southern Region Commander, Acting Assistant Commissioner Greg Moore APM, said police will be out in force to ensure the safety of the community. People can expect to see police out and about throughout the season targeting road safety, alcohol-related crime, anti-social behaviour and personal safety, Acting Assistant Commissioner Moore said. We will have additional staff seconded to Jindabyne from other police districts who will support the work of our local police, and other units such as Highway Patrol, the Dog Squad and the Region Enforcement Squad. Our priority is to keep people safe on the slopes, roads, licensed venues and out and about in the alpine region. Snowfield conditions can be difficult to navigate so wed like to remind everyone to prioritise safety on your journey pay close attention to the roads, dont get distracted and slow down. NSW Police are also urging hikers visiting the region to ensure their personal safety by submitting a Trip Intention Form and hiring a Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) before heading out into the national park. Further information on driving in snowfield conditions can be found by visiting the Centre for Road Safety website: https://roadsafety.transport.nsw.gov.au/index.html Hikers can contact the Snowy Region Visitor Centre for more information or visit: http://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au or www.environment.nsw.gov.au.
