07.01.2022 Our biggest investment mistake became our biggest blessing. In 2004, we 'blindly' bought a 1-bedroom apartment in North Melbourne. It was at the height of the m...arket and having an investment property seemed to be the 'in thing!' By the time we settled 18 months later, we had lost around 50k in value from the time we had signed the initial contract. As new investors, we hadn’t done our due diligence (a BIG MISTAKE) and this loss really shook us! We wanted to try again but having been burned by that first property investment, it took a few years before we could get the confidence up to have another go. This time though, we were going to do it differently and decided we needed help. We bought a property investment magazine and saw a Positive Real Estate offer in it. We took up the opportunity for free meet-up one-on-one with a property coach to go over our current financial position and investment strategy. We felt like we had failed as investors but they explained our current investment property just needed time to ‘cook’. After going through our numbers, the Positive coach also discovered we could borrow up to $1.1 million and our situation wasn’t as dire as we thought. This was great to hear as we didn’t have the knowledge initially but it made us want to go back into property investing straight away.
