04.01.2022 We all know that our tourism industry is filled with hard working, community minded individuals. But, did you know that that since 1995 only 27 individuals in tourism have received Order of Australia honours? The Order of Australia recognises Australians for outstanding service or exceptional achievement - in a range of fields including tourism. Everyone that is recognised is nominated by someone in the community. This means we all have the ability to recognise someone for ...their hard-work and service. It also means that it is up to all of us to ensure our national awards system represents our diversity - across gender, cultural backgrounds and categories of endeavour. The Governor-General of Australia has written to us to raise awareness of the Order of Australia and improve its diversity. It only takes a few moments of your time to nominate someone exceptional. In fact, if you have nominated an individual in any of the State/Territory individual awards categories you will most likely have all of the information needed to nominate. 03.01.2022 Extend JobKeeper - Sign the Petition As we continue our advocacy efforts for business support due to the enormous impact COVID-19 has had to the tourism industry, the Australian Tourism Industry Council (ATIC), is advocating for the extension of the JobKeeper program for businesses which rely on tourism. ATIC is advocating for the following changes to JobKeeper: ... Extend JobKeeper six months and until the international border reopens. Extend JobKeeper to include regular seasonal employees. Target JobKeeper based on business turnover, not industry. Provide advance notice of JobKeeper extension for workforce retention. How you can help - sign the petition ATIC is inviting businesses and employees to support the extension of JobKeeper via an online petition. http://chng.it/RkwZ9vbf94
