23.01.2022 The Hinkler plane was made in Germany by Gunthermann. It’s a simple toy from the Gunthermann range and stamped for an Australian market to celebrate Hinkler being the first person to fly solo from England to Australia, arriving in Bundaberg in February 1928. #toycollection #australiantoys #madeingermany #antiquetoys #vintagetoys #tinplatetoys #tinplateplane #toyplane #antiquetintoy #gunthermann #günthermann #blechspielzeug #berthinkler #hinkler #aeroplane #vintageaviation #bundaberg

21.01.2022 Here's a wooden biscuits truck made in Melbourne by Toycraft around 1950. Brockhoff’s was a Melbourne biscuit maker which merged with Arnott’s in 1964. #australiantoys #toycollection #antiquetoys #vintagetoys #woodtruck #toytruck #antiqueadvertising #biscuittruck #ovencrispbiscuits #toycraft #madeinmelbourne

20.01.2022 These two clowns carrying a monkey in a cage would have been made in Germany over 100 years ago. I discovered it locally in the Adelaide Hills in a one room shop in my home town. #toycollection #antiquetoys #tinplatetoys #clockworktoys #madeingermany #clowns #monkey #vintagetoys #gunthermann

20.01.2022 The Quack Quack Hunt money box made in Adelaide by Simpson’s in the early 1930s. Simpson’s made a smallish number of toys and money boxes and they’re very rare, but they have some of the best quality lithography and imaginative artwork of the Australian tinplate toys of the era. #toycollection #australiantoys #moneybox #antiquetoys #vintagetoys #tinplatetoys #quackquack #goose #duck #fox #rabbit #hunting #foxhunting #foxhuntingaustralia

19.01.2022 Orange Drops Lifesavers! This truck has the phone number to the radiator for the Lifesavers company in Sydney in the mid 1920s, and was probably made in Sydney. #orangedrops #lifesavers #australiantoys #toycollection #madeinsydney #antiquetoys #vintagetoys #tintoys #biscuittin #leckieandgray #antiqueadvertising #orange #hayshed #adelaidehills

18.01.2022 Made in Melbourne in the early 1930s by Leckie and Gray, this is a little milk jug from one of my favourite toys - the Australian sporting animals tea set. 18.01.2022 This Bakelite plastic truck was made in Sunshine, western Melbourne, by Haxby Bros. It was first advertised in 1945. This toy and hundreds more are described and illustrated in my book 'Australian Toys'. Available in all good bookshops, and via this link: https://www.bookdepository.com/Australian-To/9781925556438

16.01.2022 Congratulations to Carville Stewart on the publication of his book about New Zealand made vehicle toys. Carville has managed to clear up a long standing mis-attribution of this truck and others like it. It was made by Abingdons in Wellington, and not Jomax. I was pleased to see my Shell tanker make the cut for Carville’s book! The Toy Buyer's Guide shows this truck available for sale in Australia in June 1945. #madeinnewzealand #shelltanker #shell #fueltanker #antiqueadvertising #toyfueltanker #abingdons #toycollection #antiquetoys #vintagetoys #toytruck

14.01.2022 I love this little dexterity game. It has advertising for Harry Crabb’s store in Oxford Street Paddington in Sydney. The fire station was built in 1900 and Crabb’s store had changed its name by 1902, giving a date for this toy. I assume it was made in Germany. The fisherman is trying to catch what looks like a ball of string with ‘Harry’ in the middle. #toycollection #australiantoys #antiquetoys #vintagetoys #dexteritygames #oxfordstreetsydney #paddington #paddingtonsydney

13.01.2022 I love these train destination signs made by FW Strong in Melbourne in the mid to late 1940s. They were made from recycled match tins and were available with scrolling signs with towns for different Australian states. #australiantoys #toycollection #antiquetoys #vintagetoys #trainsign #wallaroo

03.01.2022 Today is National Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander Children's Day. I reckon I'm lucky to be able to share this country with such a magnificent people. It seems like the right day to post this board game, which was made in Melbourne by GN Raymond in the 1950s, with artwork by Jesse Mackintosh.

02.01.2022 Toycraft made this advertising truck in the late 1940s in Melbourne. Creamoata was a New Zealand brand of oat porridge which was also sold in Australia. 02.01.2022 This toy came out of an Adelaide estate in the mid 1980s - I’ve owned it for about 35 years! It’s a fine early Japanese made copy of a simple German made Bing racer. It has a forward / reverse clockwork mechanism which still works perfectly. #toycollection #madeinjapan #antiquetoys #vintagetoys #clockwork #clockworktoy #tinplatetoys #tinplate #racingcar #bing #blechspielzeug
