16.01.2022 Well, it’s not much of a secret anymore! Late last night the Sydney Tramway Museum’s 1898 built Sydney C Class No. 29 was lifted onto the tray of ATM (Australi...an Train Movers) Prime Mover and travelled into Circular Quay in the city to be part of the opening celebrations for the new Sydney Light Rail. It is on its own track panel at Circular Quay, just beyond the current terminus and is being guarded day and night. This is another historic milestone for this tram. More than likely it was operating on the first day of electric tramway operation in George St in 1899, it was on display at Railway Colonnade in 1997 when the Sydney Light Rail commenced and now it is in the city again for the opening on the new Light Rail lines! Movement into the city was facilitated by Transport for NSW and Transport Heritage NSW. Australian Train Movers and Debner Cranes arranged the trams move and Museum Members Craig Parkinson, Bill Parkinson, Scott Curnow, Chris Olsen and David Critchley assisted in the move at the Museum. 08.01.2022 A few photos from last week's move of 3801's boiler from Goulburn to Chullora for transport heritage. It was a great privilege to be asked to transport the boiler and be a part of its restoration.
