24.01.2022 SUNDAY, Auburn Athletics track!!! Calling our Turkish community and friends to join in this massive EFFORT commemorating the proclamation of the Republic of Turkey, on 29 October 1923. A very important day as set out by the father of all Turks himself, Atatrk. https://www.facebook.com/events/882925752093956/... Huge day out for adults, children, sporting activities, music and food. A true family day for all FREE care of Australian Turkish Language and Culture platform bringing cultural and language to all the community. Everyone is welcome. On 29 October 1923, the status of the nation as a republic was declared and its official name was proclaimed to be Trkiye Cumhuriyeti ("the Republic of Turkey"). After that, a vote was held in the Grand National Assembly, and Atatrk was elected as the first President of the Republic of Turkey.

Summary The NSW RFS has created a dedicated bank account to collect donations for the families of two volunteer firefighters who were tragically killed while on duty at the Green Wattle Creek fire. On the evening of Thursday 19 December 2019, two volunteer firefighters were tragically killed while on duty at the Green Wattle Creek fireground, near Buxton in south western Sydney. The fire truck they were travelling in was struck by a tree, causing the vehicle to leave the road and overturn. Firefighter Geoffrey Keaton (32 years old) joined the Service in 2006 and is a Deputy Captain of Horsley Park Rural Fire Brigade, and a former member of Plumpton Brigade. Firefighter Andrew ODwyer (36 years old) joined the Service in 2003, and is a member of the Horsley Park Rural Fire Brigade. Both Geoffrey and Andrew leave behind loving partners and very young children. Geoffrey Keaton and Andrew ODwyer Three other members were in the rear seat of the fire truck, and survived with non-life threatening injuries. Since this devastating event, many people have kindly asked how they can help these firefighters families. The NSW RFS has created a dedicated bank account to collect donations. All funds received will be equally distributed between Geoffrey and Andrews spouses, and tax receipts will be issued to donors.
