24.01.2022 By now the newest edition of Arabian Studs and Stallions should have arrived at your local newsagent. If you are anything like me, you will have been checking the magazine aisle for weeks now, waiting for the arrival this years premier hard cover Arabian Horse Annual. Find the right time to take a break...no children, no animals, no disturbances (I know this is tricky for most of us!), make a cuppa, and curl up with the newest Arabian Studs and Stallions. This year finds our... contributors telling their stories from all parts of the globe. We learn of new breeders and old, timeless broodmares such as Silver Fire, to todays Leading Sires Chart for both derivative and purebred A Class Show Champions. This year sees Ridden classes factored into the tally for the first time, and an interesting mix of stallions who populate this chart. Congratulations to the owners, breeders and exhibitors of all of these fine animals. There is so much to digest in this edition...a tribute to Monogramm, a trip down memory lane with Tanya Hawley, perhaps an interview with Andres Castao or Nat Conway, or a look into the continued success of Mulawa Arabian Stud internationally...any and all may peak your interest. Thank you to all of the photographers and writers who contributed to this wonderful publication. A special thank you to Stuart Vesty Photography and Simeon Stud for the cover image of Simeon Shifran. As always, we are very interested to hear your thoughts, as we are always striving to make the publication the best in can be. What was your favourite article? What would you like to see more of? 21.01.2022 BINLEY ARABIAN STUD Located in the idyllic Bourne Valley (5 minutes drive from the Worth Stud), Binley House Farm is a beautiful property in Hampshire and home... to Binley Arabian Stud which was established in 1993 by Caroline. Again with the knowledge and bloodlines handed down from her mother Rosemary quality was always going to continue. The aim of the Stud much like Oso is to produce beautiful Arabians with athletic ability to perform at all levels. Binley has 16 Arabians, and the majority are 100% Crabbet breeding and the aim is definitely being fulfilled with paddocks of the most wonderful horses each and everyone would be fit for any discipline and you would be proud to ride. Not just a pretty face at the end of a lead! The tour literally started as we drove in though the gates into a lovely yard with 3 beautiful faces welcoming us. The first to catch my eye was the outstanding proven pure white stallion SILVERN PRINCE (PRINCE SADIK X SILVERN IMAGE) stilling looking in top condition at the age of 21, he Im sure would still win in the show ring again. His major titles taken out where, British National Champion, Horse of the Year Supreme Champion 2010, and Reserve in 2011. Three times winner of the UK International Stallion Class and twice Supreme Champion. He remains unbeaten in the Ridden Stallion Class at that show. The other two in the stables I found when peering over the doors were mares with their 2 foals snoozing in huge comfortable straw beds .BINLEY SILVERN SAPPHIRE and her colt BINLEY PRINCE JOHAR by SILVERN PRINCE who you will see from the pictures is a handsome tall athletic chap. Then BINLEY SILVERN GRACE with her colt BINLEY SILVERN MUJIZA who is by the Australian imported stallion BINLEY RONALDO (ARFAJA ROBARD X ARFAJA SILVER MIST). This little guy just stole my heart and I think will be coming back with me in my suitcase. The mares and foals were then led back to their huge paddock and joined the rest of the older dry mares as one big family group. The wind was blowing a gale but it was awesome to walk through the paddocks whilst Caroline gave me the history of each and every mare. Again, many of them would grace the Oso herd. Beautiful bodied mares and fillies with kind and gentle temperaments. Id love to write about each and every horse that was proudly shown to me however this post would be very long! If interested more I would suggest looking at their website which is very informative www.binleystud.com . Caroline also runs a wonderful B&B which offers not only bed and brekkie for humans but also horses! Huge thanks again to Caroline for her time showing me these extraordinary horses and offering me those precious pearls of wisdom on the Crabbet horse. Apologies on any bad grammar or spellings Ill edit as we go on as another huge day and potentially bigger tomorrow visiting 3DE superstars.

20.01.2022 Such a wonderful story from one of our long-term breeders.

14.01.2022 Congratulations to Ron and Val Males Ron N Val Males on being presented with their AHSA Patron badges today by the Society Chairman, Greg Liddle. Their first ta...sk as Patrons was to present Pam Roydhouse with an Honorary Life Membership. These three members have been very influential over many decades, all recognised worldwide for their achievements, and have provided invaluable support and assistance to AHSA Ltd. The Board was hoping to be able to present these awards in person at the AGM this year but with the current Covid situation it was felt that this was the next best option. See more

14.01.2022 Vale Simeon Saada 1990-2020 (Asfour x Simeon Safanad)... On a crisp morning of September 1990 a beautiful filly was born. She was the result of a combination of genetics from two of Simeon Studs most treasured horses, the legendary Asfour and farm matriarch Simeon Safanad. Simeon Saada was a full sibling to Simeon Stav, Simeon Salome, Simeon Sadik (exp GB), Simeon Shaina, Simeon Safir (exp EG), Simeon Shakaf and Simeon Silla (exp SA), most of which have gained australian and world championships and created dynastys of their own. Saada with her big black eyes and classical Arabian beauty was no exception to this. Although unshown, she went on to follow in her mothers hoof prints and become one of Simeon Studs most treasured mares. She had 12 foals over her lifetime, the first four were exported, while the others became successful producers here in Australia. Saada was an accomplished broodmare for Simeon Stud with her progeny having an impact all over the world. She was also the 2020 WAHO trophy recipient. Saadas dynasty here at Simeon Stud will continue for many years to come through her daughter Simeon Saadia (Imperial Madaar), granddaughter Simeon Shafiyah (Simeon Shifran x Simeon Sepharad) and son Simeon Samech (Anaza Bay Shah), with 3 of his exceptional young daughters retained by Simeon Stud. We will forever miss her kindness and beauty gracing the pastures here at the farm. Rest In Peace Simeon Saada

01.01.2022 In Memoriam | SAHTARAH 28 September 1992 - 24 September 2020 It is with great sorrow that we share the news of the loss of SAHTARAH (Sahjat x Dantarah by BPL Da...nte). The matriarch of the Mulawa dam family that bears her name, SAHTARAH has been a much beloved member of the Mulawa broodmare band since 2009. SAHTARAH would have celebrated her 28th birthday today, passing peacefully just four days shy of this milestone achievement. http://www.mulawaarabians.com.au/mare-families/sahtarah With a production record of ten lifetime foals, half of which were produced at Mulawa, SAHTARAH achieved Aristocrat Dam status with six champion progeny, including three Australian National Champions and one international champion. Both SAHTARAH and her illustrious daughter, MUSTANG’S MAGNUM (by Magnum Forty Four), the leading producer of champions in Australia, came to Mulawa through the kindness and generosity of Kay & Phil Edward of Shane Edward Arabians. For this contribution to our lives, we are forever in the debt of both Kay & Phil. The legacy of SAHTARAH has grown exponentially with each passing year, influencing breeding programmes and breed achievements all over the world. We intend to celebrate that profound legacy in October on the Mulawa Facebook page by profiling the accomplishments of her plentiful descendants, both at home and abroad. We welcome the contribution of the Mulawa Community in this celebratory tribute, and kindly ask that you send photos and/or video of your SAHTARAH descendant along with a brief profile or personal story to us here, privately on FB messenger, or to [email protected]. Although her presence is gone, her spirit lives on in so many of her wonderful descendants at Mulawa. Thank you SAHTARAH for enriching our lives with your kind, noble nature and your incomparable contribution to the Arabian breed
